Personally I think if would be ****** if the Steelers don’t at least make him a reasonable offer. He has busted his *** since day one and never complained. Sure, the dancing was annoying but I think he’s capable of 1000 yard seasons over the next 5 years and has proven his toughness and desire to win.

Bucs WR just was tagged. For every WR that is off the market his price tag could rise. I am thinking 9 a year but who knows leading up to the days of free agency if that mindset changes.

Remeber he has stated he wants to be a STEELERS player for his entire career........... will he actually honor that? Sign a one year affordable with the intentions of a big payday and / or long term deal next year??? Many were on BEN's *** for his comment, how about JuJu being held to some standard as well............ (wishful thinking)

Not that I'm saying they would or I think they would, but if the Steelers gave him a ridiculous douchebaggy lowball offer, should he just take it because he's "honoring" his mentioning that he "wants" to be a Steeler his entire career? I do think JuJu wants to stay and would consider a lesser deal if it was near or matching his market value. He seems smart enough to know that most splash signings only make it 2-3 years with their new teams and he’d make more staying in Pittsburgh. However, the franchise tag narrowed the receiver market and JuJu just moved up the list of available players.

As far as the receiver room goes, I’m not seeing this same depth. Johnson is very talented but has drop issues. Claypool has huge potential but still needs to develop as an all-around option. Washington is just a guy. Nothing behind these three. I’m taking a wide receiver in the first four rounds if I’m the Steelers.

You could offer him something this year with incentives that, if he makes, will hit next years cap. Then again, why should he. This is his possibly 1 chance to get as much guaranteed money as he can. The Steelers probably can't offer that to him but I am sure they can make a $10-12 million per year offer over 4 or 5 years pretty cap friendly for a couple years to keep him if they thought that would get it done. No way do I enter in the price of anything sniffing $15 million per. He is not a stud No. 1 but he is our hardnosed, get the yards, Hines ward type, No. 1 for now.

$14-15 Mil? For Juju? If that's considered a bargain for that guy, I'll pass. Juju is nothing special. He is not a #1, and the best years of his career were opposite AB, drawing all the coverage away from him. If he can be had for $6-$8 mil, I'd kick the tires, otherwise let him walk.

Ya, if he wants 16-17 per, then wait for Claypool to develop. That is damn near top range for a WR. Right now, I see Claypool having the biggest potential to be a game-changer on our O, followed by Dionta and then JuJu. But, JuJu does what is asked. Catches the ball. Gets first downs and the yards needed. He's a bigger version of Hines if there ever was a comparison to make. Hines wasn't a No. 1 but we weren't letting him go anywhere. He caught the ball and was there when you needed him. He also blocked like a MFer. JuJu blocks real well too and is physical. I'd love to end up with JuJu, Claypool, Diontae as our top 3 and Washington as our No. 4. With a running game, a decent O-line, a decent TE and Ben back there, this O could be very dangerous. Take away JuJu and we'll have to wait and see. Someone has to step up and be a leader. Right now, I don't see one. Maybe the leader of the room will emerge during the offseason.

He's not elite or great. He is a possession receiver at best, a #2/#3 type, and you shouldn't overpay for that. Somebody will, but I hope it isn't the Steelers.

never said no matter what. DUDE relax, I was playing "devils advocate" in relations to how much BEN is slandered as opposed to everyone else. Similar situation and was making a comparison, Wasn't justifying JuJu's actions or expectations. I knew he would go for the "GOLD" as in cach-ing $$$$$$$$ NO I don't expect JuJu to say anything but what he said and that is the key to Ben's statement as well. Everyone expected BEN to hold true where as JuJu is given a pass.

Great points and I'm exactly in the same mind set as JuJu maybe taking a small cut. I was playing devils advocate on the JuJu vs BEN scenario. Reality is they (pro athletes) need to cash in as much as possible due to the short careers. I don't blame any of them in this regards.

Deonte Johnson had turned around his drops once he started working harder on the JUGGs machine and such. I see him continueing that and his drop rate declineing. Chase Claypool was used steadily in the early part of the season and then nearly disappeared due to scheme. With Canada's offensive scheme and the new devotion to running the ball I see Claypool reloaded and ready, he is a 1st round talent. As for Washington, he is clutch and proved that last end season by how Ben consistantly tossed and Washington caught even in combat situations.

You are very corrct in if JuJu walks, we definately need a mid draft pick on a WR, I trust our draft team when it comes to drafting WRs regardless of round picked.

4 year contract for JuJu for $56M $14M/season average

1st year $1.1M salary $15M signing bonus ($4.75M cap charge this year)
2nd year $1.2M salary $20M Roster bonus ($11.5M Cap charge)

Yr 3 $9.37M salary ($19.7M cap charge)
Yr 4 $9.37M salary ($19.7M cap charge)

This is a ballpark for a fair contract. Salarys can be listed as much higher in years 3 & 4 and you have a chance of getting out, but still have $20M in dead cap if cut year 3 and $10M if cut in year 4.

The bottom line is, the Steelers can afford to sign a quality FA, but only 1, and it will push a bunch of money down the road.
