Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has been suspended for one game for his block on Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict. Smith-Schuster was flagged 15 yards for hitting a defenseless player, and 15 yards for taunting after he stood over the injured Burfict. Along with Smith-Schuster, Bengals safety George Iloka was suspended one for hitting Antonio Brown helmet […]

Completely stupid. Vontez was trailing the play close enough to make a tackle.. not 15 yds away standing around. I thought it was bush league to taunt, but that's not a suspension offense. I think this is a bit of an over reaction. Gronk's hit was deliberate and dirty as was IIoka's.

I don't think the hit was suspendable as a first offense. I wonder if he was suspended for taunting or if he was suspended because he was technically called for 2 personal fouls on that play and wasn't ejected from the game for it.

Does anyone really understand what or how the leagues deems a "suspendable" action? Gronk should be out 3 games w/o appeal. Any player that does that should be. 1 game seems like you're just appeasing to the masses rather than actually policing the actions.

League letter to JuJu: "You lined up a defender and delivered a violent and unnecessary blindside shot to his head and neck area. You then “celebrated” the play by standing over him and taunting him."

"The contact you made with your opponent placed the opposing player at risk of serious injury and could have been avoided. Your conduct following the hit fell far below the high standards of sportsmanship expected of an NFL player.”

League letter to Iloka: "You violently struck a defenseless receiver in the head and neck area. The Competition Committee has clearly expressed its goal of ‘eliminating flagrant hits that have no place in our game.'"#Bengals

My question about the JJS hit is.. how does a player NOT do that? No coach is ever telling players to not make that hit. That's a football play. Dude was in line to assist or make the tackle before being blasted. Is he supposed to push him slightly, stand there? I think it's as much on idiot not having his head on a swivel as much as JJ.

So that's what, 4 starters down now? Well at least we shouldn't come into the Ravens game all swollen headed cocky like the last one.

This is so confusing to me. How is it that Gronkowski gets one game suspension for hitting a defenseless player laying on the ground after the play was over. Then our guy gets a one game suspension for hitting a player in the middle of a play square in the chest and leveling them. It looked violent but was still a good play. The taunting part was ****. How are these two plays equal and deserving equal punishment? Can someone enlighten me on this?

Ya. Don't appeal. Need him back for the cheaters.

As, They're trying to mellow the Steeler/Bengal games the **** out.

Why not pull an Elliot and if he loses the appeal file an emergency stay, get thru the next two games then drop the appeal and sit for the Texans or Browns problem solved. plus a big FU to Rog and the Nfl bullshit.

Here's an idea NFL... quit putting these on prime time.

My son said this exact same thing today. funny how both the Bengals and rats are prime time games, and look for the pats game to get flexed if we are both 11-2.
