It's hard to believe he just turned 21. If you were asked to compare his game to former or present wide receivers, who would you mention?

Part Hines Ward as a blocker and overall effort.

Part Terrell Ownes running with the football ( though not quite as fast )

Hands and catching ability like Larry Fitzgerald.

Okay-- I'm not saying he'll be as good as these likely hall of fame wide receivers, I'm saying parts of Ju-Ju's game reminds me of these greats.

Didnt you want Chidobe Awuzie at that pick

Chidobe Awuzie*went two picks before Ju-Ju so the Steelers can't draft him, unless they traded up. Dallas seems to like Awuize a lot.

You might be confused with me wanting X. Howard over Burns + the extra draft picks. As things turned out Haden fell into our laps when the 1-31 Browns cut him.

I'll say this, if there was a redraft, Ju-Ju is a top 10 NFL pick!

My feelings during draft day regarding JuJu

1. The best DBs are gone, either S or CB the value is not there... let's look for a WR or TE
2. JuJu who? I wanted Chris Godwin as a WR!!! I know better than Colbert and company, they screwed the pooch, I better go read some info on juju
3. On further analysis this kid could be a good piece as he fits a lot of needs: great hands, size, slot capability, route running. The Boldin mold, nice.
4 Good pick on the 3rd round with Cam Sutton, 2nd round talent that fell due to injuries, this totally gives me an even better feel for going WR in the 2nd round.

and now....

5. I can't believe we stole a true Gem WR late in the 2nd round and how old is he? 21 years old, how much upside does this kid have?

QUOTE=Coach;369981]He's a nice possession receiver. Loves to play, good hands, and a willing blocker, BUT we lose in the playoffs because of DEFENSE, not our #2 or #3WR.

Not a bad player, but we should have sent cornerback![/QUOTE]

Here you go

That's almost like predicting the weather 2-3 weeks out. All the Mel Kiper's can't predict if a kid will excel or bust in the pros. It's a crap shoot. Some sure things falter and there are guys like AB and Brady that are gems that no one saw coming.

AND Ju Ju Smith-Schuester

Salute the nation

Pleasantly surprised with the burst/speed Ju Ju has. ALL the scouting gurus/draftniks discounted his speed and made it seem like he was a bit of a plodder. Dude actually pulls away from DBs in the open field.

He carries his pads well. A strong player. If he gets open, only a sub 4.4 guy is going to catch him. Ju-ju ran he ran a 4.54 at the combine.

This is why I say 40 times can be a little misleading. Let them run it in a helmet and pads.

Ju Ju has had a really impressive rookie year, but if we're talking draft day steals that teams missed on, In hindsight I would have taken Alvin kamara or kareem Hunt, those guys are stars already. We are much thinner at RB than WR, And Bell may have 1 final game at heinz field in Black and Gold.

They are going to franchise Bell again

I wanted Hunt in the 3rd, but I wouldn't have taken him in the 2nd and I doubt anyone else here would have without hindsight

I've already said he reminds me of Fitz.

I think what is also amazing is he gets better every week.Rookie wall? pfft.

also the ratbirds must be kicking their teeth in for not getting him (they got Bowser ok, but he is no Juju)

I remember the draft thread and apparently rats fans were suicidal for both not getting JuJU and us getting him, lol.

I too like Hunt and had him mocked in round four for us. If I had to chose on draft day, Hunt > Conner.

He still reminds me of Hines (although faster and slightly bigger). Not just for the blocking but the way he runs after the catch.

Not sure comparing him to someone else is entirely fair. He blocks like a fullback, has the strength of a tight end, & the speed of a wide receiver.

Only one JUJU........
