Just wondering why the vast majority of people (and a certain super genius in particular) accept it as some preordained certainty that Juju will not be resigned by the Steelers?

If he continues his current production this year he will have only 1yr out of his 4yr career with 1000+ yards and he's 2yrs removed from that. While definitely talented and a player I'd love to keep I view him as a good and dependable player but wouldn't even put him in the "first tier" WR group and certainly not in the "elite tier" but everyone acts like he's going to be getting Megatron in his prime type money and I just don't see it.

I look at it this way - barring the Steelers winning the superbowl (because we saw how crazy teams get when paying players from a superbowl winning team get....just remember what Washington gave Randel El) Juju shouldn't be commanding a price on the open market that the Steelers shouldn't be able to comfortably match.

Now there's always the chance some team loses it's mind and makes him a outrageous offer but realistically how does Juju argue for a huge contract in negotiations with another team?

GM for potential team: Juju we like you but we don't think you are elite tier talent. Since entering the league 4 yrs ago you've only cracked the 1000yrd mark once.

Juju: I also have a penchant for fumbling away playoff runs!

Again, love him but he's not the next Randy Moss or even Hines Ward and I don't know why everyone thinks there's just going to be a line a mile long of teams vying for him
with huge contracts and pricing him out of the Steeler's budget.

no not elite but tomlin wants him around as he has stated he has emerged as a captian figure for these recievers will have to take a less mkt val with our cap sutuiation maybe 5 55 12 mill bonus and performance incenative laced deal.
the deal I would base him would be Robbie Anderson deal he signed with the panthers but juju loves the city the fans so I think push to shove he stays.
From what I have seen I dont see paying Fieler hAas offered nothing in the run game decent pass blocking but if u plug in Dotson there same results or better run blocking and excellent pass protector.

Sort by average and you'll see a lot of worse players getting paid top 20 money. Never underestimate teams' willingness to overpay. If Flacco can set a record with a contract for a decently run team JuJu can certainly be out-priced for us by a poorly run one.

To me this comes down to offense and defense. on offense they have Juju, Conner, Big Al and Feiler. and Defense Bud, Sutton and Hilton. Bud is gone there not paying him that much. that leaves Hilton and Sutton. I believe they will choose Sutton, just more complete. there not losing both. on offense, I believe they will choose Juju. will offer him a fair deal to were it will be up to him if he signs it or not.

No. I'd argue that even his best season JuJu isn't at the elite level. He's very good and should get a good contract, but you might have a team in need of a big name and has a ton of cap room. I think this is why you keep seeing the Jets come up. They have a nice young speed receiver with Mims and JuJu would be a quality addition. What works in our favor is that there are a number of good receivers on the open market.

I think there are two true No. 1 receivers at the top of the list: Chris Godwin and Allen Robinson. Godwin had a breakout season and established himself as an elite receiver last year. Unfortunately his production has taken a hit this year, but that is more of a product of his QB than anything else. He could instantly step in as a top option. I mentioned about the JuJu to NYJ rumors. Yeah, that would give them a huge marketable name, but if I'm trying to build a strong WR corps for Lawrence, I pair Mims with Chris Godwin. Robinson has approached elite status playing with offensive juggernauts Jacksonville and Chicago...yeah, he's pretty good. Great size too.

Below them it gets interesting. I think there's a trio of receivers in the next group and it'll simply depend on what teams want.

JuJu is a physical receiver who is going to bring it as a blocker as well as a receiver. He's very productive from the slot, has deceptive speed, but not elite. He'll bring you red zone production and appears to be in the mold of a possession receiver. Seems to work best as a No. 2. Still very young.

Kenny Golladay is 6'4" and is the definition of a big play receiver. Already has 2 1,000-yard seasons and was probably on his way to a third straight if not for injuries this year. Averages 16.8 yards per reception over his career.

I know he was just suspended, but Will Fuller brings the speed element that the rest of this top group doesn't have. He's been solid, but unspectacular so far, never surpassing 700 yards in a season until this year. It seems like he stepped up without Hopkins and showed he can be a top option. Career highs in every major statistical category this season. Besides the suspension this year, he hasn't played a full 16-game season.

I think the Steelers will keep him. I can't imagine him getting into the free market as a free agent. The Steelers will do right with the young man. I think they will also take care of TJ when the time comes.

You don't need to think on Watt. The Steelers are going to make TJ the highest paid defensive player in NFL history.

Given how committed the Steelers seem to be to maximizing the rest of Roethlisberger's career, if he really pushes hard for them to keep Juju, they may be willing to pay more than they otherwise would.

Juju market value is hard to gauge, though. He's shown that he can put up big numbers in the right offense, and he's still young, so a team with an established QB and deep threat on their roster may see a lot of upside with him.

I think he's going to get paid fairly well.

JuJu is super young and seems to bring good locker room energy along with physical play and good blocking. Last year was a throw away for our WRs due to qb play. I think teams would pay good $$ for JuJu. I do think the Steelers will make him a solid offer to stay.

Both Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack are making more than 22 million per year, so that will be the baseline for Watt.

If Ben is really serious about playing a few more years, the Steelers going to have like 30-40% of the cap occupied by two players.

I think if Juju doesn't resign with the Steelers. it will be because he want to go back to the West coast and be closer to his family. I do think he get home sick. I just don't see him signing with the Jets. the only reason that has come up is because of Donald. seeing how they played together at USC. unless they offer him some an godly amount of money it isn't going to happen.

He would be a great fit for the Rams scheme, actually.

Sam Darnold isn't going to be the Jets QB next year, it's going to be Trevor Lawrence. They are bringing up JuJu's name because they need a No. 1 receiver.

They will sign Watt and hopefully JuJu. If they tag JuJu, that would kill the cap even more. Signing him to a longer-term deal would keep his cap hit much lower next year and even the year after. He is far and away the leader of our WR room. And, he has the most experience. If you don't sign him, you have Washington or Johnson as your veteran WR. That ain't going to work. I hope they can find a way to sign him without breaking the bank but they may not be able to. The only definite next year that I can see is them signing Watt but he will be getting $20+ million per.

No this is how his name was brought up.

Sam Darnold hasn't had the rosiest start to his NFL career. After being taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Jets and being looked at as the franchise savior, his tenure in New York hasn't been as fruitful as once hoped it'd be. He's 11-18 as the Jets starting quarterback, which includes an 0-3 start to begin the 2020 season. Of course, this isn't all due to poor play from Darnold, who has shown flashes of brilliance over the first few years of his career. The Jets front office also hasn't been able to capitalize on having a talented young quarterback on his rookie contract by building a roster around him that plays to his strengths.

With this winless start to the 2020 season, the Jets appear firmly in contention for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. If that ends up being the case, New York would be looking down the barrel at Clemson phenom quarterback Trevor Lawrence, which could spell the end to Darnold's time in the Big Apple. If it plays out that the Jets do want Lawrence, could Darnold end up in Pittsburgh via trade? That would be something that Steelers star receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster would love to see.

"That my guy, man. Sam Darnold, if we could get him to Pittsburgh, I would, but I love Ben [Roethlisberger] so it is what it is," Smith-Schuster told CBS Sports' "All Things Covered" podcast. "I'm just saying he's a great kid. I played with him so he's one of my boys so I wouldn't mind playing with him again."

This doesn't appear to be a slight on the play of Ben Roethlisberger by any means. Smith-Schuster has enjoyed tremendous success with No. 7 under center, including a start to this season where the receiver has hauled in 17 passes for 160 yards and three touchdowns through three weeks. The 23-year-old's affinity for Darnold -- his former USC teammate -- seems to be centered more around the potential post-Big Ben era. After all, Roethlisberger is 38 years old and only has two years remaining on his contract.

Lol, this is talking about the Steelers bringing Darnold to Pittsburgh, not JuJu to New York.

My buddy is a Jets fan. He told me last night the Jets are targeting JuJu in FA.

He's not a #1 but he's a good #2 and big-time character guy.

Yeah. JuJu is a chain mover.
He’ll stay.

Most likely JuJu will be tagged. No one will part with 2 no. 1 picks and JuJu will (hopefully) negotiate a long term to stay. He has marketed himself and trademarked his brand to the Pittsburgh area (a’la Bettis) and is well liked. More importantly, he has the mentality for Steeler football. No “young money” attitude with him. Have fun and win as a team, seems to be his MO.

If Darnold came cheap enough in a trade, he's better than what we have behind Ben. I'd bring him in for a 3rd or 4th rounder. Sit behind and learn from Ben for a year or three and who knows.

I'd rather have Winston than Darnald and Winston is a FA. We are not giving up draft capital for anyone unless it's an elite move.

NYJ also have Ward as their WR coach and he loves Juju. The only way JuJu will get an elite contract is if the Steelers tag him and someone offers him a contract. Honestly, he is the best chance of us getting draft picks from a tag and trade. High effort, high character, no problems in the locker room, and an asset to your community. You pay this guy, but on our team, we can't commit over $10M a season to him.

Juju is a unique receiver. He plays a role that other WRs don't.

He stays.

Lose JuJu next year and I think you lose the WR room. I don't see anyone stepping up to be the leader unless Claypool does it in his 2nd year. I'd try to sign JuJu to something that works within the ****** cap we are going to have next year and possibly the year after.
