Judgement Day "Shady Brady" vs. Roger - OFFICIAL THREAD

LOL I have had the talking heads from ESPN on all day in the background .. they are giving me a HEADACHE !!

People actually believe that this will NOT hurt his career -- they believe that his reputation as a football player will not be tarnished .. give me a break !!

sorry ESPN - the word is out

Skip's job is to stir the ******* pot and always be the counterpoint. He's pushing his agenda to further his own small celebrity by continuing his own repetitive status quo...

We should have a pool about who jumps on Krapfts nutsack first, now that Roger is not gonna be under his desk.

OMG, what??? I usually see the show, but missed it. For real, he thinks he's innocent??

Yup, he was sucking Bwady's dick the whole show. Said that the destruction of the phone is irrelevant...I never laughed so hard in my life.

God I think I'd slit my own wrists if I had to endure that babbling crap on First Take about Brady. The whole "Debate" show is so deliberately staged it's "reality TV" for sports. Bayless is nothing more than an actor trying to provoke a response, as if he were Ric Flair as the old NWA Champion. Give it no credence.

I just hate how no matter what th case, the players always go to the same Judge in Minnesota. It's obvious he has.a bias -- so he's their little trump card for whenever they don't want to honor their collectively bargained agreement

Part of the reasoning that phone was destroyed was because of bilicheat. There was wording in the original "spygate" punishment stateing that if ever again, he was involved in cheating of any kind, he would be BANNED for life. I sure there would be compelling evidence of billy boy. Also many here have wondered why no bilicheat punishment, cause his punishment would have to be BANNED FOR LIFE, due to spygate. No shawn payton type, ignorance is no excuse, BANNED for LIFE.!!!!!

Salute the nation

The NFL has created this problem because their punishment system has been way too arbitrary and confusing.

Even if they collectively bargain that Goodell can be judge, jury and executioner, that still doesn't hold up in court/arbitration if he's completely crazy and inconsistent in his rulings.

There's a reason the NFL is losing every time a player takes them to court. And now that players have shown how to defeat them, there's no reason anyone suspended just doesn't sue the crap out of them.

The NFL's policy of punishment based on whichever way the media/fan wind blows has been flawed for YEARS. Despite the hatred here of all things Patriots there is no way (based on historical context) that this is a 4-game violation. The Vikings got a $25,000 fine for heating/drying (which increases pressure) balls just last year. And there has NEVER been a solid, scientifically accurate modus operendi when it comes to ball pressure during games. To just randomly measure football pressure in ONE game at halftime (I'm not sure this has ever been done before) and conclude something is wrong is the most illogical thing ever and will never stand up to courtroom scrutiny.

If players were smart they would have sued like crazy back when the league just decided arbitrarily to increase fines for big hits by a factor of 10 halfway in the middle of a season too, but the NFLPA were ******* looking for a new deal.

Now that the CBA is in place for the next half decade, players can sue and change the precedent of all things Roger Goodell. And that's exactly what is happening. The NFL's legal team is in total retreat mode because they bit off WAY more than they could legally chew.

You ought to shower with Oxyclean for a few days to pull that P*tshit outta your pores.

The one thing I can glean from Brady's posturing and responses is he says "I've done nothing wrong". In the literal sense, he's right. He didn't physically deflate the balls, or take them from the ref's locker room, with a stop in the bathroom, on the way to the field. The equipment managers are the criminals, and he's clean.

This mindset is what elitists do to help them rationalize unethical practices or illegal activity. It's an interesting case study for the pretty-boy that can do no wrong.

The Minnesota judge has asked the case be moved to New York. Don't know if that's good or bad...

It's a win for the NFL because the judge who it was assigned to (not Judge Doty) moved it NY. The union wanted it in MN & would have worked to get it assigned to their Judge. Make no mistake: they only wanted to get their case in front of ONE PARTICULAR JUDGE.

While not a law expert -- I now believe Brady sits out 4 games.

Good. I don't see where Minnesota has jurisdiction anyway. I read something about the NFL had already taken court action in NYC so that any further court action would also have to be in NYC.

[conspiracy theory]
Brady wants to go to court now because Rog didn't give him his way. From what I read in this morning's paper, he may ask for an injunction on the suspension, which would delay it until everything is heard. (Keep in mind that I don't think a court should hear the case.) Now then, it is THAT important for him to play in the opener against the Steelers and risk getting suspended later and closer to or during the playoffs...or...since he's near the end of his career anyway...hope he can delay it for the whole season, maybe win another Super Bowl, and then retire and they can't do anything about it?
[/conspiracy theory]

NFLPA is arguing that a Jets ballboy was caught tampering with kicking balls in 2009. In that case the NFL didn't punish the kicker (ala Brady in this case) for knowing that it was being done. Granted, I don't think there were text messages from the Kicker to the ballboy instructing him to do it as is the case here. I can see the NFLPA's argument because the NFL has clearly shown unequal punishments and also punishments that don't fit the crime. However, Brady and the Pats are repeat cheating offenders so the Jets issue isn't entirely apples to apples.

Also, didn't the CBA (which both parties signed) give Goodell this power in the first place? It's not like he's technically doing anything against his powers in the CBA so I don't see how the NFLPA would win anything in court. There's no where it says Goodell's punishments need to have any sort of continuity. How can one party sign a contract and then sue the other party when they are following the contract that they both agreed upon? That's the whole point of a contract in the first place. Or is the NFLPA just doing this out of formality to act like it's protecting the players when they really have no chance in hell of winning anything?

That's bad for Brady and good for the NFL.

Although the judge pulled randomly in Minnesota was NOT Judge Doty (very liberal) and was a Bush-nominated Republican judge that is likely more pro-business/pro-management.

yeap, I think the NFLPA is just posturing so they can say they tried to protect bwady

Figured it would get kicked back to NY. The courts tend to frown upon the type of open and obvious forum shopping that the NFLPA was engaging in. While technically the NFL can be sued in any jurisdiction in which it (or member teams) engage in business activities, the league had already started an action relevant to Brady's suit in NY. That means that the NY Fed. Court had jurisdiction over issues that would impact Brady's suit and in the interests of judicial economy it would be best to have both issues heard by the same judge in the same court. (think time, judges not stepping on each other's toes, different rulings in different courts on the same issues heard at or around the same time)

MN judge kicks appeal back to NY

A Minnesota judge has transferred the NFLPA's Tom Brady lawsuit back to New York.

The NFLPA filed the suit in Minnesota in an effort to get Judge David Doty, who has historically sided with the Player's Association. U.S. District Judge Richard Kyle saw through that, kicking the case back to Manhattan where the NFL preemptively filed. "The Court sees little reason for this action to have been commenced in Minnesota at all," Kyle wrote.

He's such a ******* weasel.

Does he NOT see that he's completely destroying his reputation among everyone OUTSIDE of the greater Boston area?
Amazing.

That's basically what Mr. Ed said in this morning's edition of The Newspaper Whose Name We Dare Not Speak.

In other news, Jets fans fly a banner over Pats** practice.
