Redskins way overpaid, but that's how loser franchises function. Panic and throw 10% of your cap at one free agent. They're too stupid not to.

I'm not hating on the guy. Money is his priority. I get it. Go get that money. However statistics are against guys who chase the big money. Hopefully he hires a financial advisor, but doubt it. Odds are he will be broke, broken, and nothing (ie. Super Bowl Ring) to show for it in 10 years after he walks away.
According to a 2009 Sports Illustrated article, 78% of National Football League (NFL) players are either bankrupt or commit suicide within two years of retirement and an estimated 60% of National Basketball Association players go bankrupt within five years after leaving their sport.

I don't blame him for taking the money. He is overpaid and the redskins will suffer through his contract until they choke. The Panthers were smart and had his worth marked he wanted more so they let him get it. It worked out for everyone except the redskins fans.

Agreed...these guys dedicated their lives and sacrifice their bodies for a trip to the top and a huge payday. Problem is they are young, inexperienced with regards towards long term finances, and usually don't have a support network that has their best interest in mind. Agents, teams, and "friends" typically all disappear when the talent and money is gone.

So is this on players that "go after the money" or just ALL NFL players? And you act like if he gets a ring it is all ok. So if he is broke with a broken down body but has a SB ring it is all good. LOL

Eh to hell with Norman. Panthers felt he wasnt worth the headache. Me as a fan would love to see him in the B&G. But i'd rather the Steelers stay away from locker room drama. Sure we have our occasional player drama, but the majority of the time the front office deals accordingly. The Steelers are a traditional, respected franchise who expects you to be a "pro" football player. Norman is a pro "player"
It's called preferred treatment. When you are coddled throughout high school and college and are given the golden ticket to succeed amongst your peers. Once you make the millions you dont know what to do other than spend. Not all athletes are like that, but the majority are

I don't know one way or the other what type of person/player he is. I just find it funny because the Panthers pulled their Franchise tag on him after they realized they were not going to be able to sign him long term. Which they tried to do. Now some think there was something else behind it and he will be broke in 5 yrs after retirement because he went for a boat load of money instead of a "Ring" or to be "Great". They have zero proof...Just a guess. Either way I knew we would never sign the guy and could give a **** about him.
No I agree. And can't blame the guy for taking the money. But again, I was really implying the Steelers dont need him

It's a stat that reflects all players. My point was a bit misguided by the statement of "those who go for the money" . However, that being their priority does show where their intentions are. The ring doesn't make it ok to become broke or dead, but isn't that truly what competitors strive for? Championships? Or, maybe it is just the money. I guess the sacrifice to play at high levels is for money and fame now. I'm with MTC. To hell with it. Best of luck to the guy and I hope he sucks big time Sept 12th.

It's not panic, its temptation. Daniel Snyder will never learn. If it can be done, it's affordable in his eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if he spent 20% more than any other team was willing to offer.

I did not know that the Panthers did Josh Norman dirty. They did not negotiate in good faith. They yanked his tender off the table and stopped answering his calls.
My position was based on Norman choosing to leave Carolina. Carolina tried to muscle this guy then dumped him when he wouldn't bend. In that situation, I can only support the player.
So good for Josh. Good for you standing your ground, good for you getting paid for your trouble. But you'll never win anything in Washington. Snyder is garbage.
