Joey Porter Jr.............................. not dad

imagine making the case anytime since Woodson that the Steelers should trade a shutdown corner because of a few million.

Sign Joey!!
They need to find a way to keep him with out paying him more than 31 million you’re absolutely right

He is the first draft pick in a while to actually deserve a big extension, the franchise at its best has always been built on drafting well and keeping them, we need to get back to that

Put him on the 8 week IR.

Players have publicly called out the organization for being cheap. Including Big Ben.
They are well known for not wanting to pay market value.
Absolute horse ****. They have paid top dollar for many players recently.

You assume a lot…I’ll go ahead and assume you’ve never owned an NFL franchise worth $8.3 Billion and haven’t tried to monetize that into profit and cash on hand to do business or are privy to the financial portfolio of Art Rooney II

Payroll is part of the 500 million in total expenses for the franchise

You think they have debt? I doubt it

They’ve owned the franchise for over 70 years, we both know they’re turning a massive profit every year since at least the 1980’s and have the best of the best investing the profit and making money off that.

They sit on a money making machine, they’re not cash strapped, they choose to take an antiquated approach to contracts whenever they can

Porter might indeed be asking for too much but the Rooneys not having cash on hand isn’t the reason he or any other player isn’t signed
That is exactly the reason sited in two different reports that ran in the Cincinnati press a few years ago. Forbes has listed the Rooney's as the second lowest net worth in the league just ahead of the Brown family and way below most of the league. Your perceptions of their wealth are way off what the reality is. Their liquidity and cash on hand is absolutely a large consideration when giving guarantees. I am not making this up it is published information. The value of team is irrelevant to the ability to have liquidity.

Haslam is worth 10 billion. Rooney is worth about 1.2 billion. Haslam has outside revenue, Rooney Doesn't. It forces hard decisions on how money allocated yearly not just cap space.

Steelers are NOT cheap. They spend close to the cap and have the highest paid defense for like the last five years. That’s not cheap!
I think the Porter issue primarily centers around guaranteed money. They do not like to guarantee money beyond two years and that is what Porter wants plus the amount of guaranteed money is an issue.
Don’t be surprised if they trade him if this doesn’t get resolved soon. I just hope they don’t adopt this stance of get whatever they can and give him away.
I’m hearing things like a second and fourth and I say don’t do it for that. A first and a third would be ideal but I go no lower than a first and a fourth.

He's an entitled, deluded *******, too pumped up by his 'posse' to be reasoned with. He will never be content with whatever they would 'agree' to. He is and will be a cancer and affect others.

Get rid of his ***. Ship him to Montreal for a case of Labatts and a family size Poutine. I want nothing to do with this pretend Steeler.

Again, until it's public what the Steelers have offered and what Jr's demands are this thread is pointless.

But, if we're just guessing, my money would be on Jr having a higher value of himself than the front office does.

Another flag just thrown on JPJ for pass interference. Get a big haul for him and get him out. Tired of looking at him and his Dad.

I think Ben would be a better judge than any of us? No?
You are correct they have Overpaid the last couple contracts to Metcalf and Herbig and a few others. Grossly overpaid

No, not really, his *** got paid and got paid big. Love Ben but he likes to stir the pot with the best of them. Keeps him relevant.

So wait... they are cheap but paid TJ and DK top of their positions and overpaid a bunch of other guys, but didnt grossly overpay one guy and that makes them cheap?

Pick a lane dude.. one agenda or the other.. you cant play both sides of the narrative.

Ben questioned ARII's spending on the practice facility and size of the coaching staff, not player contracts.

Also, you realize that he intentionally makes controversial takes on his podcast to drive views, right?

This is really bizarre to me. I think JPJ is a GOOD player. Never struck me as a great one. I wouldn’t mind at all dealing him. Quite frankly, if he hadn’t went to Penn State, a lot more Steelers fans would feel the same way. Pay him as the best CB in the league? Madness. Hopefully our FO agrees.

You are talking about Big Ben our ex QB right?
No possible way he actually thinks the steelers are cheap when it comes to paying players.
I am pretty sure he was the highest paid guy in the league for a year or two. How many players were paid at the top of thier position in his time 7-8?
No way.
Facilities? Maybe

This whole thing could back-fire on the Porter family.

I say family because I think that is the whole hold up.

Inflated ego pushing his son for inflated worth.

Agent can only do so much hence family involved.

The Steelers may are not offering what Daddy wants,
but I’d think the Steelers are offering something resononable.

Thge rest of the NFL sounds like they know a $$number$$$ and
it’s way lower than what porter thinks.

Salute the nation

Then put the link in this chat…I wonder where teams like the Bills and Packers who have massively outperformed Rooney the past 10 years compare in the billions of dollars their owners are worth compared to the billions of dollars Rooney is worth….

Until then a man worth ONLY 1.2 Billion Dollars who owns an organization that runs ONLY 50 million in the black a year isn’t cash strapped and can write whatever contract he wants, unless of course his personal wealth and how it was done 40 years ago takes priority over winning

Now that Tomlin is gone AR II alone wears this playoff win drought and the poor drafting and Kahn’s incompetence like a big frickin sombrero and no amount of excuse making from you justifies his ineptitude
