Joey …. Never at a loss for words.

Joey, as well as others, said he was a bad teammate.
He/I'm NOT casting aspersions on his current life, who he is in his personal life, his time post Steelers, his time as a family man, etc.
STRICTLY his tenure as a member of the Steelers as a player and QB1.
That's all.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Me personally?
My opinion was formed early when he was in high school, college, and his early Steelers tenure.
My personal experiences, as well as those from family and friends.
NONE of which have to do with his motorcycle accident and/or the sexual assault allegations.
I've never liked him, and probably never will. I've been very vocal on this messageboard in this regard.

God bless if he examined himself and turned over a new leaf.
But Joey's comments, as well as others, were about him being a bad teammate.
Other teammates love him.
EVERYONE'S entitled to their own opinion.
I don't begrudge anyone their opinion.
Salute.
You're repeating yourself.

Can't please all of the people all of the time. Especially as the starting quarterback. Just ask Tom Brady.

I know, hearing a story told by a friend of a friend and the truth sometimes becomes distorted or exaggerated, but based on what I’ve heard about Ben, I tend not to doubt the story…

This occurred very early in Ben’s career.
My wife told me that a friend of her friend’s daughter worked at some restaurant in Pittsburgh where Ben happened to be dining.

Upon receiving the bill, Ben replied “do you know who I am? I don’t pay”.

Although they remained Steeler fans, that family’s disdain for Ben never let up.

None of us know him personally, but we do have eyes and see he is NOT the same person he was way back then.

He accepted his faults and has chosen to change them.

From my eye test he seems to have found a way better path.

Holding grudges, carrying grudges will only amplify the grudge even of a long time ago.

Why can’t some accept the change and look at who he is.

Remember, “The entirety of your past is what makes you who you are today”

Ben is a better person, that can’t be argued and the last time I checked it is 2026, NOT 2004.

PS

BEN publicly apologized to all people he had miss-delt, not to just the Millageville or McNutty case people.

Ray Lewis never publicly apologized for anything.

Tom Brady never publicly apologized for any of his crap either…………

AND YET

Many want to hold Ben accountable to things 15 - 20+ years ago………….

“ The crowd is fickle my dear brother”

Is there a dick line that once crossed you can never repent or be forgiven? Lol like you are such a dick for so long, that no matter what you say later in life you will always be a dick? What is that line? Clearly some people feel Ben crossed the dick line. Or if he apologizes and turns to Jesus all is good? I think maybe if you are a dick 3,563 times maybe you need to be a good Samaritan 3,564 times to erase the dick line. I would imagine that if your daughter was sexually assaulted by Ben you probably would never ever ever say its not 2004 anymore. Maybe hes a little dick now and used to be a big dick. Speaking of which didnt the girl in Georgia say his dick was Grey? LMAO .......always thought that was strange and funny......maybe Ben had a Grey dick complex and it forced him to not pay for dinners. Id probably have shame if I had a Grey dick. Anyway I just wanted to post utter nonsense in my reply. Jack Handyesque per se while addressing dicks in a non gay way

I remember Ben being a dick when Mason was drafted, saying something to the effect that he had no intention of taking Mason under his wing.
What a dick he was.

My memory says it was Mason that said he diodn’t need Ben to babysit / mentor him.

It was Ben that said they needed better / more skilled players instead of a back up QB (never mentioned by name)

That kind of conversation is spoke daily at many 9-5 jobs, employees speaking out what they feel can make their team a better team. A lot of times it’s for self promotion, but here with Ben it was adoring bring me in better players to make me a better player.

Simple easy, hardly anything to be condemned for life.

You are absolutely correct again!
I got clarification from Mr. AI

When the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Mason Rudolph in 2018, Roethlisberger publicly expressed initial surprise because he felt the team should have used an early pick on a player who could help them win immediately. [1, 2]
When a reporter later asked Roethlisberger how he planned to handle mentoring Rudolph, Roethlisberger jokingly replied that if Rudolph asked him a question, "I might just have to point to the playbook". [1]

The Reality

    • Misleading Headlines: Media outlets and fans took the sarcastic playbook comment out of context, turning it into a rumor that Roethlisberger flatly refused to mentor or help Rudolph. [1]
    • Clarification: Roethlisberger later clarified that his remarks were not a personal attack or a refusal to be a teammate, noting that he meant Rudolph was talented enough to come in and learn, and that it was a lighthearted joke. [1, 2]

Ben gets way too many FALSE accusations forged against him, including your post #33.
(Glad you proved yourself wrong, not rubbing your nose in anything but hoping you will not just sheeple what others seem to tell you)

Everyone remember the K9 police dog sponsor Ben has been doing for years, no one ever mentions that.

He has been charitable in many ways throughout the years, even if not public.

What's funny is, Ben was absolutely 100% right.

Here's what he said: "I was surprised when they took a quarterback because I thought that maybe in the third round, you know, you can get some really good football players that can help this team now. Nothing against Mason; I think he's a great football player. I don't know him personally, but I'm sure he's a great kid. I just don't know how backing up or being a third [string] -- well, who knows where he's going to fall on the depth chart -- helps us win now."

Rudolph didn't help that 2018 Steelers team win; in fact, he didn't play a single down as they compiled another mediocre record of 9-6-1 and missed the playoffs. And here we are, 8 years later, and Mason is still what he always was -- a backup quarterback.

I wonder if maybe Orlando Brown, who was taken 7 picks after Rudolph, could have better helped the Steelers. He started 10 games at right tackle as a rookie for the Ravens, and then made 4 straight pro bowls. Was Brown better than Matt Feiler? How about Mark Andrews (taken 10 picks after MR)...think he could have upgraded a tight end room manned by Vance McDonald, Jesse James, and Xavier Grimble?

Ben gets a bad rap for simply telling the truth in that situation. People hate when players dance around questions, yet when they are honest and straightforward, they're given even more shlt.

Joey trying to stay relevant. Loved his game, don't care for him as a person.
Didn't he get shot in the *** at a club in Denver? Guy probably should follow his own advice.
J. Peezy had his own problems during his time in Pittsburgh, usually involving overconsumption of alcohol.

I feel like referencing the novel Shane here.......
A man cannot escape his past no matter how hard he tries.
Most people, decent people, will forgive.
But also, most people will not forget. BIG difference between the two.

Also, two things can be true simultaneously.
Ben could have been a bad teammate AND can be a great father/husband/son/volunteer/etc.
Martin Luther King Jr. arguably had the biggest impact on civil rights in our county.
He was also known adulterer that had kid(s) with other woman(en) while married.

Some things are black and white, while others have nuance.

No offense but I think the charitable stuff is sometimes overrated. Look at Bill Gates.....gives billions and is he a good guy? Probably a slimeball. Clearly there are those where being charitable is at the core of their being but some do it for image, for endorsements, for leverage, to feel better about themselves, or out of ego. Im not gonna judge any particular person and their charitable endeavors but the world is littered with charitable jag offs. Some really good men in the NFL. There are also some phonies

IZ (my named A I - yes I have issues) refreshed my memory on the subject, “The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation started its K-9 mission after a police dog was shot and killed in his hometown of Findlay, Ohio, in 2006. That hit Ben personally because he had a strong love of dogs and a lot of respect for police and first responders. He stepped in to help the department get a replacement dog.
  • His foundation began funding police and fire K-9 units around the country.
  • It helped pay for dogs, training, vehicles, protective equipment, veterinary care and other K-9 expenses.
  • For a period, they intentionally supported a department in Pittsburgh and communities around the cities where the Steelers played road games.
  • By the end of the program, the foundation had distributed more than $2.3 million, with nearly $2 million specifically benefiting K-9 programs.

And there was one especially meaningful Pittsburgh example: K-9 Rocco, who was killed in the line of duty in 2014. Ben was so affected by Rocco’s death that his foundation purchased a new K-9, Beny, for Rocco’s handler, Officer Phil Lerza. Ben specifically said Rocco couldn’t be replaced, but hoped the new dog would help Officer Lerza and his family heal.

The reason Ben gave for continuing the program was pretty straightforward: he admired the bond between the dogs and their handlers and felt that the people doing that dangerous work didn’t get enough recognition. He said if he could do even a little to help, he was happy to do it.

Penn Hills Police Department received a Roethlisberger Foundation K-9 grant that helped bring its K-9 division back up to four teams. The chief said all four of their K-9s were Roethlisberger grant dogs. “

My two and a half cents:

Your generalized assessment of donations I am sure is pretty accurate but in Big Ben’s case there was a passion involved. Ben has his fair share of criticism in the past for his off the field behavior but in this case his love for his donations were genuine.

Because he's telling you the truth? What a strange take. Dude IS NOT a good person( or was not)...I witnessed it myself in the way he treated a child..A CHILD fan. I've told the story of that incident on this board several times....it was at SB 43 practice, after practice actually. I mean maybe the dude has had a change of heart since then I hope, but what I saw and heard was just nasty and mean. I still feel like he's just fronting with the whole "Christian" act, but that's my feeling and like I said I hope he really has had a change in his life.
Why do you find it strange that I don't care for him as a person? He has shown me and countless others that he is a piece of ****. Sure, Ben was hot garbage early in his career and he found a woman to ground him. He's now working towards being a better person. Can anyone say the same for Joey? Is Ben running around telling podcasters that Peezy was/is a piece of ****?

This is what I’m talking about, Ben has certainly worked to be a better person and in doing so has also made the world a better place.

Everyone of the K-9 recipients will attest to how much better their careers are due to the grants given from the ROETHLISBERGER foundation.

It’s good to know that Ben is charitable to something he has passion about, but don’t forget it’s charitable foundation and probably has given grants to other causes beside s the K 9 cause.

Thanks slash & IZ, appreciate the winning pair.!

Is he injured ?

Today’s DK Dailey Shot has an ups bit of information in his 2nd 1/2 segment J1Q at about 9:52 if interested.

The initial clip is about Allar and very good watch (both parts)

DK indicates he is going to be at TC today. Maybe he gives a better explanation on his Double Shot later today.

I hope Ben uses some of his Hall of Fame acceptance speech to talk about his transformation to dedicating his life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..

It’s a story it should be told, not just for Ben’s clarification and testimony, but also for those of us who are always striving to become better people and-need something more to realize and attain the promise of ever lasting life..

Just for clarification on my Ben posts. I dont dislike him or love him. I just observe him and make my judgements. He seems to have Ben a jerk and he also seems to have become a better person. Thats my take at least. We all have our own demons.....its what we do with them that matters.
