Joe Haden agrees to terms with Steelers

PFT has learned that the Steelers and Haden have agreed to terms on a three-year, $27 million deal. He’ll make $7 million in 2017.

Haden had been scheduled to visit the Steelers tonight. The timing of the agreement suggests that the land rush for his services reached a fever pitch — and forced the Steelers to move now or risk losing out.

For those $$$ he better be healthy. Nice addition, skilled, good character and position of dire need. He better be healthy !
 
So, he was injured and his skills were diminishing. I sure hope this is a better signing than the last 2 we tried in the secondary.

I'm guessing he, at least, past a rigorous physical.

Had he signed elsewhere, some of yinz who are pissing and moaning that the Steelers paid too much are the same ones that would piss and moan that the Steelers didn't do enough to bring him in.

I was literally just going to say the same thing, many were complaining that we didn't try to sign a starting CB, now that we have it's complaining about money. Starting CBs ain't cheap. Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Where does Hilton fit in there? I'd put him ahead of Gay.
Upgrade Mitchell and that would be awesome. But then we'd have no one to celebrate a tackle 11 yards in the defensive backfield.

Don't forget about Mike Hilton. Looks like he may have already jumped these three on the depth chart. I like the sound of this. Hilton is an intense, quick-twitch athlete, I love how ferocious he is tackling and coming on blitzes. With Haden on the outside paired with Artie, we may finally see more aggressive coverage and schemes. I love how our secondary is shaping up, just hope Mitchell is good to go.

There is a surprising number of Pittsburgh Steelers fans who want the team to move on from William Gay, preferring to see him off the 53-man roster in a few days. I don’t suspect that they are going to get their wish. But they may be partially appeased if the prognostication of one beat writer is to be believed.

Writing for the Observer-Reporter, Dale Lolley wrote in an article yesterday that he believes the Steelers are preparing to have first-year cornerback Mike Hilton in the slot this season as their nickel back, and that they will bring Gay onto the field when they are in the dime defense.

Tempered enthusiasm. Haden may be an updgrade, but how much of one is the question. Is he fully healthy? I hope this doesn't impede Tuitt's deal being done.
