Jarvis Jones the next to leave?

I wanted them to keep HoJo last year, too bad they didn't...he was raw but did show potential. Given the crazy talent we had at the 50-53rd spots on the roster it was quite clear why we couldn't keep him though... Oh wait, that wasn't us.

Could have been a potential answer as a rush end in their nickel formation.

I was high on Josh Mauro for a nickel package sub player, but obviously he wasn't good enough in their eyes to keep around either. I thought he was really working on cracking the roster...did decent for Pit's SW merry band of cast offs.

Under the LBR (Level of Bust Rankings- determined solely by number of pages SN dedicates to scrutinizing a Steeler) JJ has a lot of work to do to catch the little man from K State. C'mon Jarvis you can't lose to a 5'6 pipsqueak, eh... maybe you can.

Maybe you can start a BUST thread?. Relative to the round they were taking, it might look something like this in rounds 1-3

2008-2015 STEELER DRAFT BUSTS

Limas Sweed 2nd round
Bruce Davis 3rd round
Dri Archer 3rd round
Shmarko Thomas - Picked in rd 4, but we gave up a 3rd via the trade.
Mike Adams 2nd round
Jarvis Jones 1st round
Ziggy Hood 1 round

What do you think Steeler Nation?

Only if you take the time to do one for every team

Except for Ziggy. I don't think he was a bad player, just a bad fit for this team.

I have hope for Shamarko this year. It will be his last chance to prove he can play. I think he has the measurables, I just hope he's caught up in between his ears.

There are definitely some contenders in that 2nd round spot. Ricardo Colclough and Alonzo Jackson turned out to be TERRIBLE picks.

His personal foul penalties he took on special teams last year were some of the worst penalties I've ever seen a player commit. I think it was 3(!) times he was called for fair catch interference. And all of them were pretty bad looking on film, in the sense that there was no way you could cut him any slack. It's unfortunate, but I just don't know if the kid is ever going to have it between the ears.

his career certainly took off after leaving 412

My feeling was that he'd be a better 4-3 tackle that he played on college instead of a 3-4 end like he played here. Regardless, he's adequate at best.

I think if that's the list of worst draft busts for the Steelers then the Steelers are doing very, very well in their drafting. There are probably that many QBs taken in the top 5 of round 1 that are busts and the worst the Steelers did is a 1.19 OLB that didn't quite pan out? I think any team would take that record in the draft, Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, Vince Young, David Carr, Joey Harrington, and Tim Couch, this list leaves out Gabbert, Locker, Leinart and Ponder who were drafted outside the top 5 but within the top 15. I'll take the list of Steeler busts all day.

Jones would not be missed, we need a big time pass rusher .

Jones gets in the backfield but he keeps running instead of making a tackle. The guy is 20 yards behind the play then comes back up to make the tackle lol

Oh poker cool, I raise yinz 1st round flop-ped on the run test.....Jermaine Stephens.

Stephens was more of a war between Donahoe and Cowher.... Cowher never treated Hampton, who was often in about the same shape, like he did Stephens... and he totally ignored him when he kept insisting that he was better at every other position including Dline, than where they played him... he was a bust, and some of that was his physique, but much of that was because Cowher really, really didn't want him and was trying to undermine Tom D. in personnel decisions

Was it? I thought that came later with the drafting of Troy Edwards in '99 and letting Javon Kearse on the board. They drafted Chad scott in '97 and Alan Faneca in '98 and seemed to be on the same page. My rememberance of it was it fell apart with the Troy Edwards draft.
