James Harrison compares playing for Tomlin vs. Belichick and more

I hope Tomlin takes it to heart, and maybe operates a little more dialed in with that being in the back of his head. Stop seeking respect and be a commanding head coach. Real players of the game should respect that alone.

Got no real use for the guy. Spite caused him to erase his legacy as far as I'm concerned.

"Mike Tomlin is good as a head coach," Harrison said. "He's a players' coach. I think he needs to be a little bit more disciplined.

"The big thing with Belichick is he's very regimented, he's disciplined, everyone is going to be on the same page, there's not going to be anything as far as someone doing their own thing. I think over there [in New England] their whole coaching staff is like that."

I don't think there are very many coaches who could successfully pull off the disciplined, structured style. I also don't believe there's anything wrong with Tomlin's style, expect when you hear about things like confusion. Up until they made some moves this year, the defensive coaching staff wasn't very good, and seeing how Tomlin and Haley handled the end of the New England game last year was ludicrous.

Tomlin doesn't have to be a drill sergeant, but there is certainly a lack of focus and issues where the inmates run the asylum, at times. Was it Bell that was a hour late for the meeting against Jax for the PO or was it game day? The Facebook live, tweets, etc from certain players. We hear about these instances and think, that wouldn't fly in NE. I hate comparing the Steelers to the "gold standard" of NE, but that is the team to beat and who is on top.
I look at Philly, with a back-up QB(to a point) and they kicked NE's ***. They played smart, fast, tough and took great chances to do something Tomlin has failed to do on numerous times. Not only did they look over Jax, but they ran their mouths, lost, at home and looked like a team that was unprepared. How does that happen? Every team has a bad game here and there, but man, it was set-up for their taking and they laid a huge egg.

Your correct wasnt a long list for him... the Pats and Ravens publicly said they were interested...could of been a couple others?

Pretty certain age had alot to do with the short list...

Did he really need another 3-4 paychecks that bad?

Doubt he needed the money. I think he saw the Steelers defense getting gashed and it sucked because he wasn't on the field. He probably thought he had a better chance of winning another SB with the Pats.

hearing this really makes me question CMT and his style of coaching. I want discipline and structure, not Club Med. Something this team seems to lack. They have all the talent in the league, but it's being wasted. How they don't have 1 or 2 more SBs with Ben, AB, Bell and that OL is frustrating.

Like all those super bowls the Colts won with Manning, Edgerin James, Wayne, Clark, and Harrison. Spectacular offense isn't everything. Ntm the Rams with Warner, Faulk, Bruce, and Holt

Imagine what a good defense does to compliment the offense. . . oh yea, didn't Manning win in Denver?

Nothing he said was surprising. In fact, he confirmed what many on here suspected. Lake of discipline is obvious and hurts the team. Poor communication on D has been going on for several years. That is all you hear the players saying. Yet, nothing changes. Hopefully, this year, they will get their heads out of their ***** on D but I won't hold my breath.

Imagine a defense where all the players on the field are on the same page...can't even get that apparently lol

And the fact that the miscommunication was happening in the playoffs if freaking criminal. What are they working on in practice?

He's a snake in the grass

Agree with what Cookie said on 93.7 this morning. Harrison was correct in his assessment of MT and team discipline but at the same time he was the main problem.

Yinz know he is gay right? I mean if you want to depict yinzself as someone who shoves bottle rockets up his ***. Who am I to judge?

hi

I wasn't depicting myself as him, I was depicting DIC as him, but only because he's a spaz, not because I think DIC is gay. How awful of you to think that

Hi

Lol. “If I knew I was going to be fined 75k, I’d hit him full on”.

It's a stretch to think James Harrison had any idea how our defense was run in the playoffs.

I don't know. It doesn't seem like a stretch if what he saw during the playoffs was what he saw when he was on the squad. Even those of us watching from the couch saw some ridiculous communication problems during the playoffs.

I figured he was referring to previous years' playoffs. Regardless, our defense has sucked *** for about the last 5 years for a number of reasons.

Well I for one am glad to see him gone. After all he had to play behind the top 2 edge rushers in the league.
