James Franklin has reportedly been fired

Kinda figured it was coming. Not sure where he goes from here due to his record against top 10 teams. Hes got 49 million still owed to him so he'll be fine regardless.

Thank god that's over. I wouldn't feel too bad for him. He's still getting paid a dump truck load of cash and now doesn't have to earn it.

Has to be someone who can also recruit or pick where to spend the money wisely.
True enough. I hope the guy can recruit an athletic QB that isn’t a statue that looks like some uncoordinated giraffe when he tries to run.

I’m hoping for a Dan Lanning type, without all the crazy. Some of it’s ok. Cignetti is a ******* weirdo too. Guys can coach football though.

I was a Franklin fan. He was the reason the program rebounded so quickly after the Sandusky scandal. That being said coming up short in big games repeatedly will get anyone fired.

This year, I think the expectations were just way too high. The defense was way overrated. And the only way I think they would have had a chance at a NC is if Tyler Warren would have had another year. He was the only reason they went as far as they did last year.

Look, I was a fan of Franklin too. The losing streak to top 10 teams was bad enough, but when you throw in losses to UCLA with an entirely new coaching staff in place for all of 4 days prior to the game and then lose at home to Northwestern, it’s going to come to a head pretty quickly. This isn’t just a this year thing.

I have exactly zero expectations for the rest of the season, because there is a real chance they lose out.

The offseason is going to be a bloodbath with lost recruits and kids transferring out. It’s already started and I can’t see it improving much. Too much uncertainty on top of losing to ****** teams. Gonna be interesting to see who they hire. Better be the right guy, or you become Purdue in a hurry.

No worries. They will be ranked in the top ten next year.

Scandal? It was so much more than that. So much more sadly. No worries. Didn't they give Paterno his wins back? All is good I am told. Seems that is what everyone was upset about. Paterno's wins....not the children's lives that were destroyed....where the AD and HC and players and coaches looked the other way while letting Jerry do his thing on Campus in their facilities. Ummm. Go Lions!!!!!

He'll go to someplace like a MAC school where there won't be the pressure.
If he does get hired, does the payoff get reduced by his new salary? I heard somewhere that might be the case.

I'm not minimizing what happened with Sandusky and PSU administrators but how long do we keep bringing that up? There are no players, coaches, or, to the best of my knowledge, administrators still here from that era over 14 years ago.

Typically that's how it works.

I read something like he's the first coach to lose two consecutive games where his team was favored by 20+ points.
