James Conner

Well if Le'Veon doesn't come back in the next couple weeks, he's right back in the same position next year, correct? He will be a decent option to grab a few carries a game to get Conner a breather :)

Conner is going all out hard to get his yards . That used energy. It will also help push his conditioning to a higher level. He does need some breaks because he was certainly running out of steam late in the game. The rats did commit everybody to stopping him as well,so it's not all from fatigue.

I'm not sure Ridley even saw the field today.

Conner does need some rest, but as we saw with Parker and Bell, Tomlin does not seem to like splitting carries if he feels like he has legit number one back.

They have to get Ridley in the mix a little more. Give him 8-12 carries to give JC a break.

I think Ridley's still in the dog house from his fumbles last week. They did bring Samuels in for a few plays. Even some ones where all he did was run a route and didn't get the ball. I agree Conner needs a breather every now and again. But, I think the plan was to work Samuels into the back up role slowly. Ridley's recent fumbling has accelerated that. Just not as fast as we might like.
On a positive note, it's GREAT to be talking of needing to give Conner a break because he's become so vital to the offense!

The rats were bunching the line by the 2nd half. But Ridley does need some carries.
Conner is real valuable to this offense and we need him for the long haul

He has until Nov 13 to come back, otherwise he's out for the year. Not even sure if Mr. soon to be forgotten can pass a drug test.

Where is Conner in at as far as league MVP talks?

Samuels spelled Connor two full series of downs, but only got 1 carry.

Not among the top 3. Patrick Mahomes has to be the MVP leader. However Conner should be considered a top 5 NFL running back and shoe in for the pro bowl.

Uhh...you serious?

Let me be blunt: conner isnt winning mvp, better to be disappointed now than in late january

he deserves Pro Bowl mention, but far from MVP. Mahomes all but has his name on that trophy. There are a few Rams not far behind and Brees, as well.

Todd Gurley will got a lot of votes, especially if he challenges or breaks the total TD record.

Could be a situation where Gurley and Mahomes ending up splitting the award, like Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson did several years ago.

Gurley has played 1 more game than Connor, otherwise their stats are within sniffing distance.

Rats knew in a close game that he was going to get the ball. So they stacked the defense toward that. It wasn't fatigue.
I was just about to post this exact thought. Also Samuels was in the game a decent amount in the second half

It's the 7th. I wrote an article about it last week. He has until Wed, unless there is a loophole for signing Saturday to be counted, though I think he has to sign befor the Steelers play game 9, which would be Wednesday.

I’m pretty certain they are running Conner knowing Bell comes back before the deadline and is exempted for two weeks and hopefully after that is in shape and wanting to show the rest of the nfl he’s worth that monster contract. Either that or we IR him and let Samuels get some carries. He’s looked very good so far

That may have been the plan in the beginning. I'm thinking that given Conner's success and how well the Offense is playing with him in, they don't make a switch to Bell. Why mess with what's working? And, why bother doing Bell a favor by letting him "showcase" his talents when there's no need? I hope they use him as a third down back and emergency option only.

Yeah, I don't let Bell showcasing himself either. I'd use him as a receiver given our lack of depth there. He'd also be my spell back over Ridley and Samuels.
