He doesn't have as many TDs as his one year, but he seems to be rebounding nicely.

I love his story, and see he is declaring for the draft.

I think he is a round 4-6 prospect.

What are yinz thought on this kid?

He has pass rushing skills too...weird. I'd take him in the 5th for sure. Great kid, great story.

Def take him if he is there late. He is a big back but not sure if he has enough speed at the next level.

Conner isn't back to full strength yet, just starting to show signs over the last few weeks that he was getting close and still had an outstanding year. He is a good power back with deceptive speed once he gets into the open field. He's pretty good as a blocker and his hands have improved over the years. I'd take him in the fourth round, maybe even at the end of the third. I fully expect him to be a good No. 2 with starting potential one day. If nothing else, his character attributes are off the chart and a true team leader. Not many guys with as much heart that will be coming out in this year's draft.

BTW not to start a new thread and to name a few prospects you like for the Steelers. I will throw two here..

Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama - The ILB who would be a solid replacement for Timmons. Foster can do it all. Problem is he very well could be gone before the Steelers pick.

Lowell Lotulelei, DT, Utah - There could be worse things than bringing in Star's brother.

I think he may go higher then that..good prospect. Good hands blocks and if he runs a good forty time I think he can go higher in the draft

Yes, I would take the kid. Good skills and he obviously has tremendous heart and work ethic.

Agreed, there's no way Connor lasts to the 4th round. I think he goes early third, possibly second round. I'd be perfectly fine with using a second round on him. Williams may not be back, and you never know with Bell's injuries. Always good to have two quality backs.

IMO...and I know its his life..

But I think he made the wrong decision to come out early..

He could use another year of getting stronger and I believe he would of had a 1800 yard season and ended up breaking more records held by Dorsett....This would of made him a prime Heisman candidate also.

Also..I think it would of benefitted him physically with another year removed from the cancer...and I don't believe he will be as high as pick next year as he believes he will..

Just my 2 cents...but it is his decision and life..

My exact thoughts. Less of a medical concern to teams next year.

I think he would be a good pick, especially since Williams probably won't be back next year, but the Steelers are allergic to drafting Pitt players no matter how good they are.

I think cancer probably accelerates your goals.

Beat me to it, odd the way Colbert and company think. They should have tons of information on abilities, character, etc.

Either way, I wish the kid well and will watch his progress no matter where he ends up. Hope the Steelers find a spot for him.

I think he'll be long gone off the big board way before we ever get a chance to pick him up.
2014 ACC Offensive Player of the Year
2014 ACC Player of the Year
Now he seems to have picked up where he left off - 20 TDs this year. Still not 100 %, but close.
Somewhere in the 3rd rd.

Coach Pornstasche didn't have the greatest W-L records but he put all kinds of players in the NFL. I don't recall the Steelers taking a one of them. Most recent Pitt guy I can find the Steelers drafting was Hank Poteat in 2000.

Thing is he had a injury and the cancer. From a strictly medical focus, I could see a slide.

From a character big on heart standpoint, he would be a great locker room addition IMO.

I am right with you, but if he faces another injury setback on top of what he's already dealt with, it could be a huge blow to his draft stock. He could be on himself and improve his status in a thinner draft class, but I don't blame him for foregoing his senior year.

The way Smokey played today, he might not be back next year either.

we can and probably will franchise Bell. They really need to lock him up now. He's going to get paid somewhere. Hope it's here!

btw, I'd love to see JC in B&G. He would be a great compliment to Bell.

I wouldn't give Bell any more than a franchise tag. I'm too afraid he'll blow another drug test.

there is things you can build into a long term contract to protect themselves........

But then you're still without a good player who you counted on to be here and have to replace him with someone not as good.
