James Conner Is he a one year wonder?

Would you rather I point out how easily he got dinged up as a rookie. How he failed to finish the season last year , and that he’s hurt again this season? I could point out his yards per rush sucks this season partly because he’s lost his burst of speed? And he’s fumble prone.

If you request I’ll add some factual data for those like yourself stuck on the wrong side of the bell curve.

I would like you to prove he lost his burst of speed, I look forward to you factual data to support your claim.

Coach should be applauded for admitting he misjudged the talent level of James Conner.
Takes balls to admit you were wrong.
Cut him a break

No. He’s in the injury house. I applauded Conner last season. When healthy he’s very good and much cheaper then say Bell.

However if he was a free agent in 2020 ( he’s a free agent in 2021 ) there is NO WAY I’d give him a lucrative long term deal.

He doesn’t look like the same player this year. Still fumble prone and now hurt again. Not breaking tackles like he used to and doesn’t seem to have the same explosion.

Heck yes we should be looking at backs in the 2020 draft.

Have to seriously disagree on your tackle breaking affirmation, the guy is a broken tackle machine every game he plays

James Conner is NOT a 20+ carry per game back. He gets hurt too easily. Period. As a split-time back, he’s great. We just can’t seem to get him and Samuels on the field in the same game...

The only good thing about the offense is the pass protection. Everything else right now is average or below average.

Given the performance of the Offensive line?
Sorry to be critical but they haven’t been performing nearly as well since Munchalk left.

I still await your proof. And I watch every game unlike you who has admitted to the contrary numb-nuts.

I’ll help.. here is an unbiased break down of conners stats compared to the three best Steelers backs of the last 20 years and all the all pros since 2014 (5 years)

Id add more, but the more you expand this the better conners numbers look, and that won’t help coach’s new agenda...

I got bored before comparing durability... but youd be amazed to learn that most backs miss a lot of time in this era.. particularly high contact backs... someone else can crunch those stats...

The interesting thing is outside of barkley, bell is clearly the best at not fumbling... the average good back fumbles about once per a hundred touches... conner is right there... i had to extend it to 1000 to show any real separation in the numbers... his fumbles per yards is average... his fumbles per touchdowns is actually pretty good...

Another yinzer ***** that is blown out of proportion because of the timing of a few fumbles... juju is actually really good at not fumbling as well...

I also took the time to watch a couple games this weekend and focus on backs securing the ball... most seem to not have two arms on the ball through contact and many rushers carried the ball in the wrong arm often... i just think all of this is because bell was an exceptional back at not fumbling... recency bias and all that jazz

Funniest thing about this thread is it was written after Connor's last game was as AFC offensive player of the week. Connor may have injury issues, but his ability is up there with the best of them.

i think it's more the oline than James. They are not playing will right now. Also teams are stacked up close since we throw the ball 3 yrds downfield
I would lean further to the side of "more men in the box" - and "stupid offensive games plans" more than blaming Conner or the OL...

JMO.
