Jaguars waive RB Leonard Fournette

You are crazier than hell. At this stage of his career Conner is the better back. Before you respond with stats Conner delt with defenses cheating closer to the line of scrimmage and injuries last season. Usually JC is a 4.5 per carry back.

Fournette has been behind a bad QB on a bad team his entire career, I'm sure he's seen defenses scheme to eliminate him first.
He had double the rushing and double the receiving yards vs Conner in 2019.
Conner has never reached 1000 rushing yards, Fournette has done it 2 out of 3 years.
The odds of Conner staying healthy aren't good, considering he's never stayed healthy.

Fournette is not better that Conner....He is just all hype...

Leonard Fournette’s best #NFL season:

1,040 yards, 3.9 YPC, 36 receptions, 8.4 YPR, 10 TDs

James Conner’s best NFL season:

973 yards, 4.5 YPC, 55 receptions, 9.0 YRP, 13 TDs

..

Leonard Fournette has played 36 games in three years.

James Conner has played 37 games in three years.

bringin in Fournette and dumping hometown cancer survivor Conner would be a PR disaster.

I'm suspicious when no one beat a path to his door.

I think he’s a great complement to Conner. Conner is 100% not a 3-down back and you’re high if you think he is. Fournette on 3rd and 4th and short is a major upgrade over Conner.

He and Derrick Henry would be lethal together. Titans should consider it.

If this guy wasn't a former top-5 pick no one would even be talking about him. In 39 games he has 15 games with at least 4.0 YPC and 9 100-yard games, just not an impressive body of work.

You sure are blowing his horn. So now you changed your stance to third and fourth down yada yada. Major upgrade? I have a sneaky suspicion why you think that regardless you have nothing to support your assessment. Besides they have Benny to complement him on third and short if need be and a speed back to spell JC. So that headcase can find another team to latch onto. Steelers depth at the position is strong. Unlike ILBer and OT. That is the area if the team that could use a vet presence.

Yeah guys. Let’s leave him out there for the Patriots.

That team has billacheat and Ernie it will be business as usual with Godell running the show,

Interesting stat comparison. But, I'd prefer to stay away from the sandstorm he's going to bring w/ him if he's a Steeler...

I don't want him, we don't need anymore attitude issues, but we said how bad our running game suffered because our QB issues, and compared their #'s for 2018 and 2019, who was Fournette's QB in 2018? Who was their big play WR? Who was on their Oline?
IMO, Fournette is the better player, but as I said above, I don't want him in our locker room.

Fournette's 2019 was padded by an explosive game in Denver last season. I know it's a part of his body of work, but take that game away and he's under 1,000 yards and under 4.0 YPC. In 2018, he averaged 3.3 YPC.

2018-19

Leonard Fournette
Games played: 23
Carries 398
Yards 1,591
TDs 8
YPC 4.0

Rec 98
Yards 707
Avg 7.2
TDs 1

James Conner
Games played: 23
Carries 331
Yards 1,437
TDs 16
YPC 4.34

Rec 89
Yards 748
Avg 8.4
TDs 4

I guess Fournette may have the better physical skills and pedigree, but Conner has been the more productive player over the past two seasons and that includes a year with the worst QB play in the entire league.

If Fournette wouldn't have been a fourth overall pick and he wouldn't have been great against our soft defense in the 2017 playoffs, no steelers fan would want to have this player. This is just hype.

I don't want him, but he's the better player IMO, if he was on our 2018 team he would've had better numbers than Conner did. I'm not saying he's great, or top 5, I just think all things being equal, he's a better RB than Conner, not that much better than you try to deal with that attitude though.

Not listed in those stats, he has 800 touches in his career, 3 fumbles, Conner has around 450 touches 5 fumbles.

Most people thought Bettis was a head case as well but the Steelers took a chance on him and it paid off. I'm not saying Fournette is as a good a back as Bettis or ever will be but, me personally, I love having a back hat linebackers and defensive backs don't really want to have to tackle in the 4th quarter. The Jags FO is really bad, their record of grievances files against them is high, they gave Fowler (1st round pick) a raft of crap and fined often. I don't know Fournette and I'm not even advocating trying to pick him up but I wouldn't assume he's a locker-room problem jut because him and the Jags don't see eye-to-eye.

Some good counter points. Well presented.

Homer stuff. " Everyone on the list can do a better job. " No sir.

Cope, Fournette is only 25 years old. Last year, on a bad offensive Jaguars team he had 1,600 combined rushing and receiving, and ran it at 4.5 yard per carry. He only lost one fumble in his entire 3 year career.

Don't you think he'd be a little better on the Steelers? The answer is yes, and I'd welcome him for 1 year at the right price. He'll run hard for the next contract.

I can see a power offense with Fournette and Watt in the backfield, and Claypool ( who's a heck of a blocker at WR ) sealing the outside. On third down, let the rookie do his stuff.

With our defense a lower mistake power football offense, sprinkled in with seedy playmakers in Claypool and possibly McFarland would win a lot of football games. That's how I see it.

Conner is a broken down back who fumbles. Can't rely on him.

The only problem Coach, is there is no money for him. The cap is ****** next year, and I'd rather find a way to sign Cam/Juju/Sutton et all, than find a room for an outside luxury that further squeezes next year's cap.

While there were many idiots before him and no doubt will be many after him, what I will call the AB Effect will hamper many players. Any perceived locker room idiocy will be much more scrutinized. In today’s me me ,social and media world it has to be. With the millions invested now it has to be. There will always be one team looking to offer that one year cheap deal. In the past there were multiple.
