This is a little off topic and by no means is any indication of our coaches, but since Noll's first pick was Greene, I wanted to see who else was picked first by our coaches:
Noll: Greene: Cornerstone of the Steelers Steel Curtain. HOFer and one of the greatest players to every play the game. 10 time pro bowler in 12 years
Cowher: Leon Searcy. 11year pro, made 1 pro bowl with the Jaguars.
Tomlin: Timmons. Entering his 10th season 1 time pro bowler.
Not to shabby with all 3 coaches finding pro bowl caliber talent that played for a decade! MJG might be the best selection ever though...

You may very well be right. It's funny how as a kid I took those STEELERS for granted. It was never a question of "if they would win" but more of a statement of "when they beat _________(whomever) " . The final score settled many an arguement with my childhood buddies. I wanted to be that Kid so bad, the one in the :"COKE" comercial, just for the jersey and meeting Joe Greene.

I agree it is great to see the old games popping up on youtube, but like you IRON city, I was a kid in the 70s, and just thought the steelers winning was my birthright.
It is neat to watch the old games again, and see that though they were some great ball players, they also were not perfect. Something we tend to loose sight of around here when we don't win every game 38-0.

Of all the players on those GREAT STEELERS teams, Joe does and is the FACE that started and maintained it to fruition. His play, both on and off the field, was "legendary". I've heard a lot of different stories over the years. One being he tried to be a liaison between Terry B. And the STEELERS when Terry felt jilted. Didn't he and some else carry Swannee of the field as they didn't have a time out or didn't want to burn it. I can go on and on and on. Well, I'm glad Mean Joe Bradshaw is missing a little on his facts. Maybe MJB got hit one to many times in the head or something. Mean Joe Greene is alive and well both in reality and in our hearts. Thank you Joe

Greene and Lambert both had the exact same temperament on the field. Joe was the cornerstone, and Lambert was the final piece of the puzzle. Both would stomp on an opponents nuts to win a game.
