Guess the Dolphins are starting Tua at QB. Kinda weird timing since they are 3-3 and won their last 2 games and Fitz played well.

Teams are always too anxious to get those top pick qbs in the lineup
And tgey give up on them too quick if they aren’t superb right off the bat... its not like the old days lol
they are benching Fitz now because they don't care about this season. They feel that they can be contenders next year so they want Tua ready for next year. It's fine if he struggles this year. They are decent this year but aren't real contenders. One more good offseason and if Tua is the real deal, they can compete next year.
The worst scenario would be to win 9 or 10 games with Fitz, maybe win a playoff game and get lower draft picks, then next year you start Tua and take a step back.
They didn't start Tua immediately for a few reasons. One, they wanted to check out he was fully healed. Two, they wanted to make sure the offense was good enough that they weren't sending him out there to get killed. Three, they wanted to make sure he knew enough of the offense to have some success. With no preseason, they had to give him several weeks to assess all those issues.
It makes sense to play Tua now. Let him struggle this year to prepare for next year
While I agree, I don’t believe there are any true “throwaway seasons” in the NFL. Everything can change by the day in this league, if you can win more now you do it. I think it has more to do with them seeing the success of burrow, Herbert, etc. and thinking they may have the biggest shining star of the bunch.

I would understand the move IF Fitz was playing poorly and the Dolphins were losing, but to make this move after Fitz just won the last 2 games and you are in playoff contention just makes no sense. Seems like a great way for a coach to lose the locker room when guys realize that the coach is playing favorites regardless of performance on the field.
If that was the case ( did not care about the season ) , why not start Tua on game #1? I'll tell you why, he was awful in practices, missing guys and throwing picks. I find this move really questionable.
If he struggles and takes the team out of contention, fans will say we should have drafted Justin Herbet.
If there was a preseason, he may have started week 1.
You really think that a fanbase in the heart of SEC country will be saying they should have drafted Herbert over the national champion SEC guy? Really? If i was a dolphins fan I'd want Tua starting now and i'd be rooting for him to look good but the team to lose games and get better picks. Miami really is pretty close to being a damn good team.
I live near Miami. No way, he was alarmingly bad in camp. The beat writers were saying he's inaccurate and threw too many interceptions. Dolphins fans are split because they think they can make the playoff this year. Fitz was their MVP in 2019. Tua is an extremely humble person. He interviews very well. It's hard not to root for him.
For what's it worth, I bought a new I phone recently, and service sales person said he gets his hair cut the same place as head coach Brian Flores. During the draft process he asked him at the barber shop which QB he liked in the draft. Flores replied Herbert.
