It’s still early....but which player currently headed to FA should be kept?

A good effort. Some minor disagreements.

Alualu is having a very good year. He might get a contract slightly below Hargrave is he keeps it up.

Villanueva is in decline as the left tackle, but he'd probably look much better at right tackle

Banner should be in his own tier. Not much more than NFL Minimum. He's only played one game as a starter and has been cut by more than one teams. With his injury, no other team will offer him say 4 million to above a year. At least think so. CHuck is much better, and no way could Banner play left tackle with CHuck staying at Tight Tack;e.

Either way, the Steelers NEED to draft a tackle in the draft early.

Now for reality, we are in cap space hell.

We can use the system to help reload.

I'll take a stab at compensatory picks under the caveat the Steelers sign 2-3 cheap free agents from other teams. What could the Steelers get in the form of compensation if they lose the following players in free agency?

My best guess:

Dupree- 3rd round comp pick
Ju-Ju - 4th round comp pick ( He's not standing out as he used to )
Hilton - 5th round comp pick, and I'd hate to lose him.
Feiler - 5th round comp pick
Villanueva - 5th round comp pick. He'd older
Conner - 6th round comp pick, he's a running back...
Alualu- 6th round comp pick
Sutton - 7th round comp pick
Banner - no comp pick

You do know that those comp picks would be available for the following draft right? While you gut all depth on the team for probably Ben's final run

You're saying Villa, a converted DT, can easily switch to RT? You think it's easier to play RT, because it isn't. It is the exact opposite movements that you've mastered on the other side. Villa wold be a trainwreck at RT, because he's never done it.

Chuckes however received equal practice snaps as RT and LT his first 2 years because he was the backup swing tackle. Banner has always played on the right as the extra blocker, and is more limited in his LT snaps.

Rule of thumb for switching players from left to right. Young players can do it. Older players who have mastered their side, have a much tougher time switching sides. DD can't play LG and Villa can't play RT. Remember when we lost Faneca, then drafted DD. He didn't play Faneca's LG spot did he? That's because he can't. Some people aren't athletic enough to mirror their movements. This is why Feiler is a freak!

Cope, I remember playing right defensive tackle my junior year. They wanted me to move to left for senior year. I couldn't do it. Not well anyway. So I stayed at rt.

You got it Bleeder, completely different movements. That's why swing tackles are amazing!

Yes, they will be 2022 picks. We can not afford out best players in free agency in 2021. We are in negative cap space other teams have 25+ Million. Who are we going to cut first is a better question to ask.

Ben says he wants to play longer.

Caw, caw, caw, caw......this and flapping wings = your posting. Sounds like Crows on a fence.

You are getting all your useless threads mixed up in your own head.

17 million for rookies? Sorry Dumb *** the league uses a slotted rookie scale now and have been for around a decade. 7 picks don’t cost 17 million on a single year cap.

Translation, pipe down. You don’t know jack. Shut your pie hole. The adults are talking.

Hey Dolt,

Now tell me, Mr. Dark Shades how much in negative cap space we are for 2021? Go ahead you can say it. Or maybe you can't, because you are who you are.

Understand cuts and contract re-structuring has to be made before we have any room to sign rookies. Over the cap is accurate, Don't be stupid we are negative $26,804,219.00 according to over the cap. OUCH, and what if the cap space goes down, figure out how that works. Hint hint, It won't help us

Also understand we have many free agents and can't win a bidding war unless we franchise one of them. Now go ahead and whine I'm not a contributing member and should not be posting. Blah, blah, blah.

Thankfully your stupidity is mostly confined to this part of the forum.

I know who we should cut....

Man you are one ignorant mofo. Everyone explained how the cap isn't locked in only a floor. You see how the Steelers do business but every ******* year it is the sky is falling in regards to the cap. You grasp nothing. Only thing that truly surprises me is the level, the depth of your ignorance. You should talk about something other than the cap, the draft, and who you want to trade. Because more often than not your opinions are mind numbing. Even your player evals suck ***.

I made a very thorough post on how the team can gain a lot of cap room. I guess you decided to ignore it

OMG......Read the freaking link you attached you pathetic Dumb ***. It’s +$26 mil on a projected $175 mil cap. PROJECTED. Use a dictionary for its meaning. 2021 will not have a $175 mil cap, if so, every team will be over the cap and forced to cut veteran players with big contracts. The NFL owners don’t want that, the NFLPA certainly do not want the FA market flooded with vets who cannot be signed.

The cap will be negotiated by both to probably what it is now of which we are $9 mil under. If there are no changes going forward with injuries, Pitt will have around $9 mil in cap to roll over for 2021. You add the restructuring and extensions there could be $40 mil available to sign our own FA. Not enough for all, maybe 1 tag, and 2-3 decent contracts.

Just stop already and quit embarrassing yourself. Do yourself a favor and take a enrichment class on reading comprehension. Until then, go back to finding other ways to pleasure yourself.
