Is Tunch ok?

ALS is some serious stuff....hang in there Tunch.

My wife's uncle didn't last a year when he was diagnosed at 60. Really sad news.

Heard the average survival rate after diagnosis is three years. Don't know how Stephen Hawking lived so long with it but I'm sure getting it at such a young age had something to do with it. Devastating news. Hope for the best for Tunch and his family.

Tunch is definitely one of the top notch Steelers of all time and a really great guy. Incredibly sorry to hear this but if there is anyone who can fight that awful disease, its Tunch. Maybe he will be able to bring more attention to the disease and help work towards a cure. Like Alzheimers, not enough has been done to battle it.

Asked that myself once. Hawkins had a rarer different form of ALS where you contract it earlier in life but is a much slower progressing form.

Genetic ALS has a longer survival rate than late onset ALS. I don't know if the body just adjusts to it, but either way it is not a fun way to live.

First I am learning of this.
I, too felt Tunch was a little off this year.
I was thinking it might be to the isolation we all are experiencing.
Devestating to learn that is not it.

Just want to mirror all the thoughts, prayers, wishes and love in this thread for this man.
Godspeed Tunch.LOVE.

I would love to see the team put Tunch on their helmets the rest of the year and dedicate this season to him. He has long been a part of this team on and off the field and is a genuinely good guy by all accounts. There are not many broadcasters like him and Wolf who are so unabashedly good people.

That would be awesome (and necessary IMO) to see. Give the players, organization and all of SN a great Steeler and even better man/cause to rally around.

I'm fine with Tunch or Dunn!

Tunch has had a few tough years. First lost his wife now this ALS. Wolfe tries to protect him when they were on together this past season. That’s what great friends do when the other is struggling. It was hard to listen to Tunch and you could see his decline.
Two really good dudes Tunch and Wolfe. Very knowledgeable and so respectful to their listeners not like some of these other so called radio talk show hosts who know everything and can be extremely rude to their listeners.

Tunch is a tough dude

Rooting for him as well, but doubtful he is going to be able to return to the booth in 2021. Listened to him during the first game against the Clowns last year and as others have mentioned, it was clear something was wrong.

ALS just sucks.

My great friend and longtime SN member @BAS is currently battling this horrible disease.
