Is Mike Tomlin’s Time Up in Pittsburgh?

Another one?

These threads are hilarious, anybody that thinks the Rooney Rule Rooneys would ever fire Tomlin is on crack, he has that job for life

Not specific to you Spike, but why is the Rooney Rule always brought up regarding Tomlin. He wasn’t a product of the rule if you call it that. Ron Rivera was interviewed and “satisfied” the then new rule. IIRC Rivera and Grimm were finalists with Tomlin. Rivera obviously ended up in Carolina so his interview gave him attention to other GMs, which is what the rule was for to begin with.

Why did they bother interviewing a lightweight like Tomlin if not for the Rooney Rule ? One year as DC at Minnesota and the worst pass defense in the league was his biggest accomplishment. They wanted a minority hire and they were blown away by Tomlin's bullshit, certainly not his resume or football knowledge.

It wasn't that they were just interviewing a minority. They wanted a minority coach. For whatever reason they didn't like Riveria. Grimm had no chance. Whisenhunt had no chance and he probably knew it so he took the AZ job. He is the OC of the Chargers now.

Tomlin was using smoke and mirrors much more effectively back then.

JImmye Laycock retired. Perhaps W&M will offer MT a nice position. I mean, they won't pay as much but the campus is gorgeous and there are plenty of young hotties to look at.

"The Steelers win a few in a row, 'Mike Tomlin’s the GOAT.'"

I don't believe that this profound level of asininity has ever been reached here. Not even by antdrew.

I was thinking he was the author.

The same Jimmye Laycock that never offered Tomlin a job ?

I was referring to the fact Tomlin played for Laycock wanted to get into coaching after college and Laycock never wanted him on staff, very damning.

Perhaps the college might overlook any prior discussions given MT's more expanded resume.

Pure speculation on your part. Unless their is evidence to the contrary. Getting a job at VMI from Bill Stewart was probably the better opportunity.

Is it time for Mike Tomlin to go? No. That’s the short answer. Why? For many reasons. There is no better option Fans overreact. That is expected. The Steelers win a few in a row, “Mike Tomlin’s the GOAT,” but when they lose a couple, “Mike Tomlin should’ve been fired 3 years ago.” The truth […]

Whoever says he is the GOAT after ten wins in a row is a ******* moron let alone three. The fans have nothing to do with whether he is fired or not. The Rooney family has a love affair with seeing blacks get a fair shot. Tomlin should have been fired 5 or 6 times already so the only thing that pushes Tomin out is multiple losing seasons in a row. Who on God's green earth would resign the coaching job of the Steelers? No one with half a brain. This is why I blame Ben's HOF career being wasted on the Rooney's and the Rooney's themselves. I'm tired of hearing how great the Rooney's are. They have many flaws that have kept us from the 6th and 7th Lombardi's. I wish Tepper had bought the team. The standard should be excellence not consistency. I think the Rooney's are quite overrated. How many SBs would the Steelers have won if there was FA during the 70s?

“Laycock” *snickering*. “Jimmye”. JIMMY!

Best post of this whole thread and use of the words lay and ****! Well played you!

Tomlin would have to change his name to Mike Suckscock to get that job.
