Is Mike Tomlin to blame for “The Status Quo”

Randy Fichter had a pretty good season. He may not be the play caller as some of the big name Coordinators out there, but he's a solid presence on the sideline.

Randy Fichtner did not have a good season. He was terrible. His offenses scored once on an opening drive in two years and he continued to trot out the same awful short-passing game plan. Maybe if you were talking about Justin Layne starting on the outside every week, but otherwise this isn't even remotely close to being a comparison.

wait, we won the division and his offense was undefeated for 10 games!

Hey 448. Go fix your sarcasm detector.

My point is with haden and nelson and minkah surrounding him.. We can hardly point to any splash plays,,, or "Great hit" or etc.. And if you can,,, I can easily point to some game randys offense was super.

I got the sarcasm, it just didn't make any sense. Edmunds is a much better player than you view him.

Or he's much worse than you view him.

Edmunds allowed a QB rating of 54.2 when targeted this year. He had a game-sealing sack and had career highs in interceptions (2-tied for 16th among safeties) and passes defensed (8-tied for 13th among safeties) this year. Everyone though he was a reach when the Steelers took him, but he's gotten a little better each year and is an above average safety. Just because he isn't a Pro Bowler doesn't mean he isn't a solid starter.

Mike Tomlins "status quo" is what we have been seeing the past couple of years. Nothing will change. I expect late season collapes every year .

One thing I can say for sure is he sure as hell isn't liquid.

Salute the nation

Just out of curiosity, were you watching the same games I was? Or was the streaming delay lagging back to 2017?

All you need to know... Mike Tomlin himself said the Steelers weren't going to go with the "Status Quo", that doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results were the definition of insanity. His words.

Then he goes and promotes from within for OC. Ok... good talk Mike.

BINGO!
just like his jibberish PC's, what he says never translates to winning football
Also keeping Butler makes no sense, need to shake up the staff, stop the white noise that these players have tuned out
Accountability starts at the top Mikey

Here is what comes to mind when I think of Tomlin. He reminds me of a CEO that is a wall street guy. This ceo really does not know the details of the business . Business even refers to it as blocking and tackling, X’s and O’s. He presides over the company and distances the companies performance from his performance. He creates a level of confidence in the company by being the public relations officer and incorporating catchy jargon into his PowerPoint presentations showing how his management is best in class and generates superior accountability. He is supported by his board because he represents that steady hand on the wheel. He is one of them...an accepted part of executive leadership. I say we Promote Mike to the executive team maybe executive Vice President of Bullshit and hire a real football coach.
