Is Jalen Hurts a viable successor for Ben Roethlisberger ?

I understand Antonio Brown is available... (ducking) ;-)

He can play QB? The way he is spending money without income he would probably take your quarter and not give it back.

No way we can we spend an early pick on a QB with our cupboard of draft picks bare thin.......

Pretty sure from what I remember you are a Bama supporter....
I like Jalen but I do not think he translates to a team like ours.... mainly because I think our coaching staff cannot adapt and develop an OFF around its players very well
Now if the heavens opened up and Tua was available I would change my mind about picking a QB in the draft..... he has the it factor, talent and good decision making to be successful at the next level
Roll Tide
You are correct, I'm a Bama supporter and I watched EVERY game Jalen played. EVERY ONE. Some of you only see his running ability - yes, he can run; but Jalen is smart and RARELY throws interceptions. RARELY.

If Tua drops past #3 - SELL THE DAMN FARM and move up for him. Period.

Love his character but he isn't an NFL caliber QB. Could be a backup/ change of pace QB but he isn't starting material.
I respect your SEC outlook. I think Hurts has more to prove than most in this draft. We shall see...

he'll also keep his business on the sideline, holding a clipboard, probably for the duration of his career, assuming he doesn't volunteer for a position change.
You're funny, Omar.

4.59 40 and made every throw out there today. Made it look easy. May be a chance the powers that be won't have to worry about making the decision on Hurts as he helped himself greatly today. Lot of "analysts" saying he won't make it out of the second round and, with our other needs, I don't see the Steelers looking at QB that early (if at all).

Yeah but it would all depend as these days QB's that are mobile and can throw are in high demand these days like Wilson, Josh Allen, Mahomes, Jackson, etc?!

As I do yours. I love the guy but if you watch his film he struggles to make pin point throws at times. That's why Tua took the job from him at Bama. Those windows get smaller in the NFL. But we'll see. Maybe he'll go to a team that can use him.

NO, he's not

Oh, I agree, Tua is on a whole different level and, IMO, he's the best QB in the draft although injured - his stats prove it.

It's going to be an interesting draft...

What about Jordan love? I don't know anything about him but I caught some of his combine performance and he looked good to me (for whatever thats worth). Is he someone that can be had late round, and would he be an upgrade over Mason and Duck?

Here are Love's stats........ but he is getting all kinds of love at the combine and his stock is climbing

If Tua drops to us in the second, I take him and I'm happy about it.

Short and coming off a significant injury.Thinking that is really rolling the dice.

Yes, I just read a headline stating that he could climb into the top 10. Guess that rules him out.

Love has a cannon, incredible mobility and is a guy that compares favorably to Mahomes physically,he is a top 15 pick.

Is this Drunk Cope dreaming out loud ????? ....lol I still suffer 2 nightmares from the past........dropping Johnny Unitas and passing on Marino
... A Tua in the 2nd round situation would be awesome but it ain't happening for us unfortunately
I think there are at least 4 teams in the top 8 draft positions looking for a QB, so I doubt he does make it past that point if nothing changes. I could even see teams trading draft positions for the opportunity to get him.

He also showed the Jameis Winston gene of generosity this season ( 20 TD vs 17 INTS) but some team will elevate him up the draft board based on physical skills and potential.

absolutely agree. of course, there's pretty much 0% chance of that happening, but i'd be sprinting to the podium to select him if he were still there.

I wouldn't cry crocodile tears if the Steelers took J. Hurts in the draft but I would rather get him in the third which seems like a long shot now. Even leaving out his obvious "intangibles", my thinking is that QB is such an important position and with Ben nearing the end of his career and neither Rudy, Duck or Lynch inspiring a lot of confidence at this point, adding another guy to the mix is not a terrible idea, especially a guy as athletic as Hurts with the direction NFL offenses are moving. I'd also be okay with one of the better TEs, speed WR (looks like there will be quite a few gems to pick from), fast RB (Akers is impressive) or top O lineman. Not saying I'd jump for joy if we draft him, but I wouldn't throw anything through my TV screen either. I guess it depends how close you think we are to contending for a SB. If you think Ben's return puts us in the mix then we should go for someone who would help immediately - like an RB. If not, start putting the pieces in place for the future. It all depends on Ben's arm. JMO of course.

Agree , you could call it rolling the dice..... but it is a mid to late 2nd round pick.... I see nothing else in this draft that puts us over the top at any other position.
After personally having a very similar operation to BEN in September myself...... I do have concerns for Ben returning to form when it is on his throwing arm. Losing velocity on the ball matters in the NFL.

Tua is young and should tend to heal better at this point in his life cycle. At 6' 1" and being mobile as well there is plenty of evidence that guys this size can manage a career in the NFL.
Bermuda and I would definitely Roll Tide the dice on him if we had any chance to land him.

and he can run the ball especially inside the red zone...

I admit that I liked the pick of Mason in the 3rd and I liked some of the things I saw in preseason especially. But in the regular season he performed up and down ... and I do blame some of that on coaching handcuffing him......so I am not sure anymore what we have in him as a QB ..... I just think Tua is something very special and if he were to some how not pan out .... I still think he would have been worth the risk.
