Is Ben to blame for AB going AWOL a few days before the team’s season finale?

The SB ring IS a stat.

MVP of the SB is even better. It's the one pinnacle he has never come close to.

Thing is, it wasn't practice. It was the morning walk through that the purported incident happened. The afternoon session, which is practice nothing was seen or heard by media members on site.

Was Brown even present for the afternoon session?

I will say Ben's side of the story doesn't add up. Here is what he said.

"If there was a blowup or something, I sure as heck didn't see it,"

"Roethlisberger called the magnitude of the story "baffling" based on what really happened."

He told the radio show that he talked to Brown on Thursday morning and "everything was great," but he hasn't heard from him since.

So he stated if there was a blow up he didn't see it but also said the magnitude of the story is baffling based on what really happened. So did something happen or something didn't happen? Also, everything is great Thursday morning but has heard from him since. His story contradicts itself. Personally I think Ben has just as much to blame as much as anyone BUT AB has always acted like a diva/child. Honestly nobody knows what really happened except for the guys in the locker room. I think everyone can acknowledge Ben doesn't have the best reputation as well. Reason he has never been voted team MVP before.

Because to Ben it WASN'T A BIG DEAL. To AB IT WAS......Personalities are always different. Ahhhh relationships can be so so very difficult. Ben is like "let's get this **** together & take this game Sunday", AB is like " you hurt my feelings, I'm taking my ball & going home"...

I can practically guarantee Ben never yelled "Get him out of here" regarding AB.

Indeed the first reporter to "break" the "story" said Ben wanted to run the route again. That isn't Ben saying "Get him out of here." It's true, from a purely performance based perspective, the team really should have awarded the MVP to Brown. The fact is, he's drawing the double coverage, he's grinding game after game while JuJu and to some extent Washington, Switzer, and Vance get some glory due to having better looks.

Regardless of the reason, Brown needs to huddle up with the team, apologize for freaking out and they need to move forward with a clear and united goal. The entire team has to be set upon not only winning the SB, but simply dominating the season on a week to week basis.

You KNOW AB wants a ring. It's the one thing he needs to cement his H.O.F. status. He's not going to get a trade at all, but he's CERTAINLY not going to get a trade to a team that has better chances than a focused and driven Steelers team.

Tomlin needs to be told to just STFU and let the coordinators do their jobs. He should have no other significant responsibilities than talking to the media and organizing team lunches. He'd probably **** that up too though and order vegan.

Sure AB wants a ring, it just seems not quite as badly as he wants attention or money.

I do hope he gets traded if he can't fix his attitude, and fix it quickly...I don't see it as an impossibility for either scenario to pan out though.

The real problem is when is the last time we have seen a truly focused and driven Steelers team? I'm not just talking about for a stretch here or there, I mean truly focused and driven. Seems like it was way back when Tomlin first came into town took over the locker room, quickly cutting down J Peezie and was a young hungry coach. He's been fat, stupid and lazy for years now as the inmates run the asylum and he sits back cashing pay checks lookin' like Ray Charles.

We will not see a hungry, focused or driven team until his *** is booted from town. This team needs a true coach, not a buddy to sit back and watch us act like a bunch of damn idiots.

Tom Brady was on TV screaming at his OC and throwing ****.

Bingo Tom. Marcia also screamed a profanity laced tirade at Clete Blakeman on live TV after losing a game on final throw to Gronk with a no call. Yet he was described as "an intense competitor, releasing frustration". No fines, no discipline or anything was heard from BB or the league. It's a matter of perspective.

it has no bearing on the money he's making, stats and money, that's all he wants. He was signed to a contract that made him the highest paid WR in NFL history, and as a starting WR up to that point won 3 total playoff games.
He bitched the year Ben was hurt, we beat Arizona with Landry Jones, but AB bitched he didn't get the ball enough, after a win.

What was the name of that jagoff WR who played for Cincy and we all made fun of how he was such a diva and an *******. Always complained that he didn't get the ball enough. That bird has definitely come back to roost in Pittsburgh...Holy Cow...I'd like to hear what Myron would have to say about the situation. :)

Is Ben to blame for another adult acting like a spoiled, petulant child? Good lord.

Shannon Sharpe has an opinion -

Big Ben is terrible leader. He’s a finger pointing, divisive, selfish player. Who constantly looks for someone to blame or throw under the bus for his shortcomings. Le’veon situation was the prob now. Le’veon wasn’t the reason 7-2-1, but the problem for missing playoffs. FOH
— shannon sharpe (@ShannonSharpe) January 2, 2019

And here I thought his communication problem was just a verbal thing. I get the gist of what he is saying, but what a mess.

**** Shannon Sharpe.
At least his tweets aren't as jumbled as his linguistics

All the crap coming out of nfl network is put out by abs’ agent, Getting the story out that aleast half this mess is bens which is complete bs. When the true is out how derisive brown has been doubt anyone with want him. And no one knows that more than abs agent. I’m with the “Sarg” suspended that a-hole no pay make that jackass come crawling back begging to play again. this ain’t WPA football time to stop look8ng the other way and deal with that dumbfuk!

These former players in the national media absolutely LOVE going after Ben for the situation with AB. Guys who don't pay one ounce of attention to anything Steeler related until stories like this come out. I could see Ben wanting to run a bad route again. Him and Brown have been off all season long, something that was NEVER a problem until this year. There were also rumors Brown was running wrong routes on purpose last year when he wasn't getting the ball enough. I didn't believe it then, but maybe there was some truth to those rumors.

The story I just read is that Ben asked AB to run a route again, AB got all insulted and left the field, so Ben asked another receiver to come in and run the route for him. That makes a whole lot more sense than this story of Ben screaming "get him off the field" which doesn't sound like something Ben would do from any previous reports over the last 17 years.

There is no way to know exactly what did happen but whatever it was, I don't care if Ben told him **** off you stupid lazy *** mother-******...it doesn't excuse not showing up and not communicating before a game. You're pissed off at a co-worker? Handle it like a man, talk to the person, talk to your bosses, demand that it be rectified. You don't run home and hide like a little boy.

When Ben does it he's a terrible leader...when Marsha does it he's a fiery leader and the GOAT!!!

From Albert Breer (https://www.si.com/nfl/2019/01/03/a....com&utm_campaign=themmqb&utm_medium=social):

Brown has explained to those close to him that he didn’t feel some of his teammates were as invested in 2018 as he was, and it was showing up in their work, and he was fed up with it.

So the perception is Brown quit on his team, remember Tomlin did not deny this in his PC, and then he shares that he is frustrated with his teammates and their work ethic? That cannot sit very well in the locker room.

Starting to think it comes down to Tomlin doing what's best for the Steelers and announcing his resignation. He's lost the support of 2/3 rds of the fans, the locker room cannot be put back together as is, and it's under his leadership that this has happened. Tomlin is the Head Coach. The media will be swimming in bloody water until something happens, good or bad and at this point it's the Steelers organization that suffers, not the individuals.

This is not a fire Tomlin post though that's how I feel. No it's a do the right thing by the organization that gave you this opportunity and resign. Give them an opportunity to move forward in a positive direction.

Slow down here. Outside of AB acting like a tool, what are the issues going on in the locker room?

Point being the players certainly know more than we do and they're gonna take sides in the matter. It's becoming a he said they said situation and more stories will come out. Dude quit on his team and sits down with another mouthpiece of dissension in Harrison. Talking heads pointing fingers at Ben. Heyward already weighed in for and against. Do you not see how this blows up in the coming days/weeks?

Things will settle down and the Steelers will either dump Brown or keep him. If he's gone, the team will move on just as they always have. If they keep him, AB will be AB, but I'd bet most of the players would be fine with him given what he can do on the field. If the Steelers don't abandon the run down the stretch, they probably finish 11-4-1 and we're talking playoffs right now rather than all of this crap.

Hard to tell what AB was thinking given the circumstances. Did he feel there was no chance at playoffs? Was he pissed JuJu got mvp? Does he hate Ben? Tomlin? I don't know. All of it is childish but he's shown to be a very very talented child in the past. It sucks and the organization is in a tough spot going forward. Do the inmates run the asylum? Or is Tomlin in charge? I wouldn't want to referee this crap if I was Rooney. Thus the opinion.
