Irish Vikings pregame Thread

I used to refer to the team as "we" up until about a year or two after Mr. Dan Rooney passed away. I truly believe "The Steeler Way" died with him. I just don't recognize this organization, team, culture, and Identity as the team I so passionately loved to my very core in the past.

I just saw an article where the NFL wouldn't let the steelers goto Ireland as early as they wanted to. This is BS and the team should be allowed to go when they want

The vikings asked to have their two overseas games back to back.... thats why they didnt want to go over early... they are staying two weeks... but its crap that they blocked is from leaving early for competitive advantage reasons... thats never been the case before and it certainly wont be for the Vikings next week

It will be hard to ever bring it back, not with this staff. That culture is dead and buried.
When you lose that kind of identity that's been carried for decades, it's really hard to get it back.

It's definitely not coming back with this HC and staff.

Each year it erodes a little more.

The only thing they share with the great teams of the past is the colors.

Well, atleast some of us got to see the great stuff before it disappeared.

We have a whole generation growing up that has never seen this team do jack ****.

So the Vikes are allowed to have a huge advantage over the team they are playing next week. If the NFL was consistent, they'd make the vikes gly back after Sunday then fly over again. They know the Rooneys won't complain.

I read that too, and was a little surprised because some indicators were they were waiting.

Our owner is soft, so the NFL walks all over them. Had Dan still been in charge, no such thing would have happened.

Methinks this will be an epic beat down of the Steelers.

In spite of the Irish heritage connection of the Rooney family.... The Steelers will likely get dominated in this game. Vikes are easily their strongest opponent yet, and I am having a hard time envisioning the Def getting 5 turnovers again.

The Vikes could roll this team and embarrass Art in Ireland. Maybe, just maybe his little Irish eyes will take some notice cause they won’t be smiling if they get rolled.
Someone has got to wake up and take notice what’s going on.
Think about it! We played three teams that most likely won’t even smell the playoffs and could have lost to all three.
Their defense ranks near last in most categories and their offense not much better.
Now you play your first legit team.

Their 4 and 0 record suggests they know how to approach international games. With a .500 or barely above .500 coached team I would be surprised if they pull out a W. The suggested pattern is W L W L W L etc.

I wouldn’t bet against my team never do but you know which part of that pattern is on the table.
The Vikings have had 'more opportunities', if you will, to play overseas - so, I wouldn't put a lot of stock in their overall record; albeit amazing...

If JPJ is back I think the game will be closer than all the media heads and naysayers are projecting. It will also be better to get Elliott back on the back end of the defense (pairing him with Mo' Peppa Please).

I'd play Ramsey more at free safety this game, personally, because I'm not too sure about Elliott's knee. I'd also tell Beanie to pack a bag because I like him better on Jordan Addison, in the slot, than anyone else.

Let's peel that onion...

The NFL rejects the Steelers from going early as it will be an 'advantage' over the Vikings, correct? Well...

If the Vikings requested to play both overseas games 'back to back' - IS THAT NOT AN ADVANTAGE as they will already be in a European timezone regardless of where they camp out for a week until the next game???

I'm calling Bravo Sierra on this...

Elliott is a SS.😉

But yeah of course it would be great to get him and JP back. Haven’t checked out the practice report for the day. I know Highsmith is out. I also think we will see less Benton at least at NT.

I’m all for giving Ramsey FS snaps too.

It might be their best version of D with:

Heyward, Ekuale or Black ,Harmon
Watt Queen Holcomb Herbig
Porter/Slay OCB
FS Ramsey
SS Elliot/ Peppers
ICB Echols

The overseas game always have WWE feel to them, kinda like the SB.

I still can’t pick against my Steelers although my brain knows better. I simply don’t bet, in pick-elms pools I still take the Steelers even though I know there is not a chance.

I too can’t await for the My team to show up. I also know we could do worse than the Tomlin, but we sure could do better as well. I’m willing to take that risk and move forward. Unfortunately, we won’t get that opportunity for 3-8 years. Even m ore should he win a playoff game or further.

The next Steeler playoff win you see may be from heaven.

And to that point they made the best of those opportunities by going 4-0.

Porter could make a difference perhaps. Keep in mind he draws plenty of interference penalties and the Vikes have two good good WRs’ in Jefferson and Addison. Also a very good TE. Better fix that soft zone in the middle.

That is a tall order having this guy cover Addison.
Kevin O’Connoll is an excellent offensive mind and will give Tomlins’defense fits. Tomlin and Austin better be ready.
