Interviews for Steelers new head coach thread

Most of the best offensive minds went last year. this cycle was heavier on defense.
The list wasn't extensive last year.

Ben Johnson was the elite OC who was basically at the top of everyone's list.

Coen was highly thought of despite only having two years OC experience in the NFL.

Other than that, not exactly a bunch of slam dunks in terms of offensive minds. I think the Steelers missed the boat not interviewing Udinski and the other Kubiak.

You would have fit right in back then. In many ways not the least of which was the personal hygiene. Although parts of Kentucky are not far off those days.
You gonna cover that poor dog's ears when you say GD 100 times today? You aren't in a decent man's league, son. Just give us the address where we can save that poor dog. He doesn't deserve to live in filth and squalor.

WTF are you even babbling about? Go climb back into your shack in the holler and come back when you have something actually funny to say. Otherwise just keep your wife/cousin warm tonight. It is going to be cold.

Hate to harp on it but it sort of feels like their WR2 search.
There was only one Aiyuk, but there seem to be several Kubiaks, so we are gonna be ok.

Bills and the rats are the competition for our list.

Sean McDermott anyone...anyone?
It;s funny how a lot of fans call Flores Tomlin 2.0 and think McDermott is the answer (not saying you are one of those calling Flores Tomlin 2.0 by the way). If anyone is Tomlin 2.0, McDermott is. He has Josh Allen at quarterback and hasn't made it to a Super Bowl. At least Tomlin won a Super Bowl and made another when he had Roethlisberger.

I think they did win 8 playoffs in 6 years though if I remember correctly…

100%!
And they even went to the same college and played football together..
Two peas in a pod

With an MVP calibre quarterback (who actually was MVP one year), but no super bowls with Josh Allen. Tomlin was also able to win playoff games when he had an elite quarterback. So McDermott seems to be Tomlin 2.0.

McDermott matched Tomlin’s entire career win total (8) in just six seasons with Josh Allen.

He was 8 and 9 with Big Ben.

But yeah 8 and 8 and 8 and 9 is pretty close.

But we are talking 9 years versus 19 years coaching..

McDermott has at least shown the ability to hire competent offensive coordinators.

On Flores: what is being discussed broadly is his claim the Dolphins pressured him to tank-it if that was all that’s one thing

But Flores is suing the NFL, the giants, cardinals, Texans, and titans for discriminatory hiring practices, along with another “John Doe” team.

He’s said the league is “rife with racism.”
He’s called the Rooney rule a “sham.” Is this the rhetoric we want coming from our head coach?

He has said “God has gifted me with a special talent to coach the game of football, but the need for change is bigger than my personal goals.”

Let me be clear, discrimination is wrong, but I want the head coach of this team to be singularly focused on winning championships. The team and its HC should be about winning first everything else second.

There’s nothing wrong with fighting this battle and seeing where the truth is but I think being a head coach is enough of a handful on its own.
