Interviews for Steelers new head coach thread

My feeling as well.

Every who goes to Cleveland sucks.
Dulac is saying at least 4 more will be added to to the list.

I tell you I don’t mind the long list I welcome it.

In the process I hope they are aggressive with who they like so that they don’t go elsewhere in the process.

I don’t want them to have to go to plan B because they were looking at plan C and D.

I just am presuming their top likes are all still playing…

95% of our fan base complain about the offense. "This isn't Steeler football". "All we do is 'run, run, pass - punt'". "We don't use the middle of the field"... the list can go on and on and on and on...
95%….That’s quite the exaggeration. There’s been a ton of posts or “complaints “ about the defense. How many posts about the “Top paid defense “. “ The amount of rushing yards given up. The amount of passing yards given up. The way the defense folds on 3rd and long. The amount of opposition players getting their career bests as soon as they play the Steelers D.

The sad thing is our Offense was just as anemic . The amount of times we scored 7 points or less in the first half. Their nickname should have been 3 and out.

That's the thing, the better coordinators out there are still working because, you know, they win playoff games.

What number would you put on it??? Exaggeration my ***. You've been here on game days and draft days...

I have been in or read most.. it seems like a little bit of everything sucking from a diddley-eyed Joe to a damned-if-I-know. It never just stayed offense or defense. As we know for the most part Steelers blew chunks in just about every category imaginable.

Now we have a fresh start and I welcome whomever they decide on…

We've all seen the Steelers post more records for the lowest/worst performances in the past five years than the previous 4 decades combined. It was a collective effort to reach these lows. I still can't figure out how this team has looked like a bottom-5 NFL squad and finished .500 every year since Duck Hodges was QB. True Jekyll and Hyde type performances.

I’d say we complained about both all the time. They both underachieved and have for many years. Let’s hope our new regime gets us past that middle of the ground hump that you seem to deem as acceptable.

Did Stefanski elevate the play of any of the QBs?

To be fair, he didn't want to go with Watson over Mayfield. That was all meddling from ownership, and it's hard to fairly judge a coach who has that type of relationship with his boss.

It's the same reason I'm not as down on Brian Flores as many are due to what happened with the Dolphins. He actually did a decent job there, all things considered

Remember Belicheat used to be the HC in Cleveland and we kicked his *** regularly.
Then he went to the Pats, hooked up with Br*dy and Ernie Adams, and won 6 Super Bowls, appearing in 9.

I don't know Berm. All I have to go on is his three years as head coach of Miami. (as far as head coaching). Looking at that body of work it sure looks a lot like the coach that just left. Look I did not hate Mike Tomlin I was just tired of finishing with the same record or close to the same record year after year. With the way the steelers hang onto coaches for ******* ever I would just like all the stones turned over. I also just think there are better candidates out there., and its the damn Steelers we should have the pick of whoever is the brightest shinning star.

For my money that would be Shula...
Yes for me Shula or one of the Kubiak brothers seem to have the best resumes, and are without baggage

I really hope Rooney has an open mind to hiring an offensive guy and picks someone who will bring in the best and brightest to his staff.

I’m worried Rooney saying his #1 quality he wants is leadership means he will be seduced by how the candidates speak instead of their substance. To me if you’re focused on leadership Rooney should talk to people who have worked with and under these guys, not just on the interview.

I remember how the elder Rooney said he was blown away with sitting down and talking to Tomlin on his interview, while communication skills are important, leadership is more than that

Yeah I hate when fans use him as a measuring stick knowing how in depth they were at cheating. They were the on the mountain looking down at other cheaters. The king of the kill!

6 Super Bowls yet somehow his coaching tree isn't much better than Shades'.

Which brings me back to the current candidates...

If the pattern is to bring in a 35 year old brilliant mind - then the obvious choice is Nathan Sheelhaase.

95% of our fan base complain about the offense. "This isn't Steeler football". "All we do is 'run, run, pass - punt'". "We don't use the middle of the field"... the list can go on and on and on and on...

So, quit whining, go to your local arts and craft store and make posters. "Hire Sheelhaase". Stand along the highways and byways - hell, start a peaceful protest and walk to the facility with the signs. Make something happen.

I'm doing my part to get your juices flowing...
I'll take my juice with some Aviation or Hendricks and a handful of edibles thank you very much
Then indeed the ideas will be flowing

Just cuz 95% complain about the offense doesn't mean they can't also complain about the old, overpaid, ineffective, historic defense too!
Probably 99% complain about the D along with the 95% complaining about the offense.

Because the D gets paid so much and a majority of draft stock goes that direction they get an even higher level of scrutiny.
