I wss looking around, trying to figure out what the Steelers would do with their stable of running backs. I'm specifically interested in jaylen Samuels and his functionality in Canada's offense,. And whether someone like Snell or mc farland would be a better fit. Alas, we are talking about a back up role, or a complimentary role.

The article talks about needs , pre draft. In hind sight you can see what the Steelers did. It also talks about the types of back Canada is likely to employ. It gives me some insight as to what I think the team will do. Your thoughts ?

good article B&G Bleeder, thanks for posting it.

I don't know if Samuals is making the roster. I see (better) now why they drafted Harris and He will be a big upgrade. I also think strongly on our new TE fitting Canad's mold as well. Washington is our BEST "combat" catcher on the team, last 2 years proved that. He also doesn"t have the dropsies. He will be a great #4.

i was looking at skill sets of our current RB's. If you want a RB who can do it all. Samuels is pretty much the best option behind Najee Harris ,, IMO.

Now. i get the angst.. He hasn't done anything. He only had 9 rushes and 9 receptions last year. Fichtner is gone.

Says Canada 2015 at NC State: "“He could move and run and catch, just do everything – that’s what caught our eye first,” Canada said. “We’ve always had that kind of position in our offense, but we’ve never really had a guy who’s been quite as good at everything as he is. But he can do it all.”

This is what I was wondering about with the initial post.

When they started talking about Najee lining up outside, inside, slot etc.. It got me thinking,, I don't see Mcfarland or Snell with this skill set.

I understand.. But im looking at what if. And what molds are needed for a "Canada Offense"
The thing I get from Canada's past offenses is to incorporate his schemes sure but to adjust to what skill set you have in the process. He has training camp to assess what he has and mold his stamp on what he sees. I would think typically he would favor the McFarland over Snell. Probably Samuels over Snell too. But make no mistake about it you will see a heavy dose of Harris early and often. If you are thinking 3rd down back I thing you reexamine Samuels. Which Snell still has value in short yardage situations. Ballage is a wild card. Not sure where he fits the more I look at him. Maybe he could replace Samuels. Depending on which version of JaySam shows up to training camp.

Great post slash.1

I've kind of felt Samuals was along for the ride instead of steering the ship so to speak. It seemed like he was all good and agresive when he first broke into action herre but since then he has just been coasting. He hasn't stepped up or seemed to be any stronger through the off season. Like B&G said it could partly be due to the Fitchner debacle but Samuals is also a "pass" catcher and I didn't see much of that in the Fitchner pass attach...........

Good article. Disagreed with Ebron's value in play action. no one will respect PA with Ebron in because he doesn't block worth a ****. They are going to give lip service to PA as they did last year. That's why I think all 11 personnel should have Friermuth at TE if he is good enough.

Again I don’t get tomlin or the FO. We are one of the great franchises in pro sports Rooney’s are famously committed to their head coaches so why does tomlin keep hiring journeymen to do professional jobs. Looking back I believe the Reason why munch left was the promotion of randy fuknutz. The dude had no business being OC of any team in NFL but especially us, a team made famous on smashmouth football. Now Canada… best of luck to him, but who in the hell is he? And why are rewiring the complete offense for another journeyman? Jeez us tomlin hire some pros and leave it to them… sit back and polish the lombardi’s. You did your job you got to were you are but you’re working very hard on getting fired from a job that you can’t get fired from!! You have more job security than the Pope! god I hope Canada works out, for tomlins sake if no other reason, it’s too much to go through another randy fuknutz. Go Steelers!
