I'm on record for saying this was a bone head move by Bell..that being said just like some one said he is a special talent. So my question is this. With him being so young 24 can we afford to be patient with him same thing goes for Bryant. These guys are special players on the field. We were patient with Ben. I know different situations but they all boiled down to young guys(special talents) who needed time to mature. Because let's face it if these guys were average players they would of been cut already including Ben. But because Ben was Ben the Steelers were patient with him. Can't we do the same with Bell and Bryant. Let them dictate their future with the team. Meaning let them control their future with the Steelers by either staying clean and maturing or they league will suspend them anyway. We have all the leverage when it comes to contracts. Use it and see if these guys can mature the way Big Ben did..
Bell when healthy and clean is a very good back, but last year proved he was replaceable. Bell more of a chain mover type. We've got other players who can do what he does, maybe not quite as well, but there are options.
Bryant is freaken gifted with no injury issues. No one does what he does. He could be the next Randy Moss.
Bryant has been worth more than a touchdown per game to the Steelers over the past two seasons. The Steelers scored, on average, 6.4 points per game more when Bryant has been in the lineup, posting a prolific 28.6 points per game with him and only 22.2 without him.
The Steelers have scored 30 points or more 14 times over the past two seasons. Bryant played in 11 of those games. His big-play ability was a driving force behind much of the offense’s success since he came on board as the team’s fourth-round draft choice in 2014.
Last season, the Steelers had to play the first five games of the season without Bryant because of a drug suspension and one missed game because of injury. They scored 30 or more once — against the woeful 49ers — and went 3-2 in those games.
Once Bryant returned from his suspension, the offense once again became more prolific. The Steelers scored 30 points in six consecutive games and went 7-4, making the playoffs for a second consecutive season.
So without Bryant, its minus 6.4 points less per game and a 3-2 record.
With Bryant its 7-4 record, with multiple 30 point games.
