Justin Gilbert carted off the practice field with a knee:

Not looking good for the walking wounded. The injury spreadsheet is updated in the sticky with all practicing players for today. Nix looks like he should be active this week, since today was his first day as a full participant.

Gilbert carted off today

Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Justin Gilbert was surprisingly listed on the team’s Wednesday injury report and now we know why.

According to Bill Phillips of WPXI, Gilbert was carted off the practice field Wednesday with an apparent knee injury.

Gilbert, who made his 2016 defensive debut for the Steelers Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, received some praise for his play in that game from head coach Mike Tomlin during his weekly press conference.

The Steelers acquired Gilbert in a trade with the Cleveland Browns just prior to the start of the regular season. In addition to finally playing some on defense Sunday night, Gilbert has been a weekly contributor on special teams as well over the course of the last few weeks.

**** I really wanted him to do good things so we could rub it in the Browns fans faces.

Cromartie is a free agent... Lol

Damn, hope it's not serious (though probably is). I was really hoping he'd turn into something special.

Get those Browns off our team before they infect others.

As limited play he has, we can still rub it in their fan's faces. He contributed to the win and hope he isn't to seriously injured.

As for Cromartie, bring him in hell yes. Take a look.

Absolutely not on Cromartie....he's a cancer. He has like 10 kids with 12 womenm(needs child support $$), he's old, and the dumb ****** was kneeling last weekend in London during the anthem. No thanks...unless you want Harrison to break his leg and give him a reason to kneel.

Looks like it might not be that bad. Just enough buzz to get the Browns' fans hopes up...

Report: Justin Gilbert Injury Not Expected To Be Serious

For the first time in awhile, the Pittsburgh Steelers may have caught a break on the injury front. Despite being carted off from today’s practice, Justin Gilbert’s knee injury is not considered serious. NFL.com reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala reported the news.

A player being carted off is never a good sign so this is some surprising, and much-needed, good news. Gilbert played eight snaps against Kansas City, part of a grouping that included four cornerbacks and one safety. He was almost exclusively matched up in press coverage against Travis Kelce with the Steelers running Cover 1.

Gilbert has continued to see a bump in special teams work on the coverage units and seeing action as a kick returner.

He also serves important depth while Robert Golden and Sean Davis work their way back though Davis appears to be a full-go this week.

Tomorrow’s injury report should provide additional clarity to his status. The only cornerback on the Steelers’ practice squad is Al-Hajj Shabazz, a second year player who has never appeared in an NFL game.

Dam good reasoning, I RETRACT my earlier statement on Cramartie. Didn't see the dumb ****** kneeling and the rest of your statement makes VERY valid sense. Thank you

Sometimes the "funk" from Cleveland drifts along the winds from Lake Erie and south to the Steel City. Faint, but pungent nontheless. Justin must have caught a whiff, had a flashback and in turn got hurt forgetting where he was. Cleveland 's sorrows followed the poor guy.

Good deal. Glad to hear it may not be as serious as initially thought.

and some not too bad but not too good news

Good/bad news for Steelers DE Cam Heyward. The hamstring isn't horribly serious, but it should sideline him for 2-3 weeks, per member of org

It's almost like injuries are part of the NFL ...

We aren't having any season ending injuries and we are still getting others back who have not played yet.

21 is right. The Steelers haven't lost any starters for the season yet *knock on wood*. The injuries are early in the season, and we have a bye in 3 weeks. After the bye, most of the current injuries should be healed, prepping the Steelers for a healthier run for the second half of the season.
