Initial Thoughts - seahawks game

Way more concerns that the scapegoat Johnson. Way too many gash runs and wide-open receivers. Same play over the middle and seemed never to be addresses. Over paid top end that made very little plays on defense today. Our receivers could not get open Rogers had time to throw and seemed because they could not get pen held the ball. Warren was the star. coaching was not. Nothing play wise looked like last week as if no matter they wanted the running game to work. Seattle right down the field first touch after half same thing. A lot of yards given up and points .

Seattle outgained them by 200+ yards.

Rodgers didn't play well, but it wasn't like those around him turned in good days of work either.

The OL is going to be a weakness once again, it seems. Maybe it is just me, but it seems like both Jones and Fautanu have looked bad thus far.

If the Steelers end up missing on consecutive OTs in the first round, it will set the franchise back quite a bit.

As it relates to the defense, it has been so bad dating back to last season it's difficult to determine what the issues are specifically.

They don't do anything well right now.

The offense is not great now but we all knew it would be a work in progress. New OL combo, Rodgers, Metcalf and Jonuu SMith are new, expanded playbook. It was expected it would take time to come together. I'm actually a bit encouraged by what we've seen so far.

The defense has no excuses. They constantly seem surprised by what opposing offenses are doing.

Seattle runs the ball and they have JSN at WR. How about we bracket that guy?

Agreed. Johnson and frankly CA II gaffes cost them the game but even if that was a win its totally impossible to win with front 7 play like this.

Lack of a WR2 was exposed today, especially with the WR1 struggling with butterfingers early in the game.

Most teams I see have some type of speedy rookie WR or DB as a kick returner. Usually they’ve had some type of experience doing it in college. I thought our rookie slower RB was horrible last game and worse this game as a returner. This is strictly a coaching decision. And one I certainly don’t agree with. When they got that fat slow guy the previous seasons I disagreed with that too. I don’t get it. I would have rather had Gunner. And that’s not saying much.

Not as optimistic as some here. I figured the team would go as the line goes. After 2 games the line has been abysmal. Seemed like the middle of the line was more an issue today. The defense was banged up, but you could argue the subs played better. Queen missed an easy sack, Ramsey got beat 2-3x, and Wilson was up and down. 1st 2 weeks the D has been abused. Johnson was supposed to be super Najee, but has been a team goat. Boz is about the only guy playing above the line

This could be the worst Steeler team since 1999!

If this continues in 2 weeks we will be saying "THEY ARE A REALLY BAD FOOTBALL TEAM!"

They are not good....that much is certain!

They may as well revive Blitzburgh on defense. This **** isn't going to cut it.

Just all around crap. I'm used to it.

The solution is long, long, loooooong overdue.
If you are being serious.....my sarcasm meters might well be off, Id like you to describe what you mean by blitzburgh defense. That term is as dead as Steel Curtain. They dont play That way creating confusion since more then 10 years ago.

I'm a bit less optimistic about the offense.

We're still waiting on Jones and Fautanu to play up to their draft positions.

Rodgers can still move some to avoid pressure, but it's not 2015 anymore.

At this point of his career, he needs a better running game and stronger pass protection than the Steelers can probably provide him.

I think we did blitz more today, but our secondary did not hold up

Same **** new year. It’s business as usual with this franchise. I picked them this summer to go 8-9 and not wavering off of that.
Having the most expensive defense IS NOT the answer. Out dated, antiquated defensive schemes that will continue to be exploited.
TJ does not appear to be the dominant player he once was. I thought they were going to move him around but doesn’t seem to be the case.
Rodgers simply cannot continue to take hits like he has. Can already see his frustration brewing. This could get interesting!

Tomlin. His lack of actual coaching. His words games don’t translate to the field play.

The problem has been and will continue to be Tomlin.

Until ownership has enough or fans stop going to the games he’s safe.

The guy never has his team prepared to start a game. Ever.

So sick and tired of all the excuses. He’s a **** coach and hasn’t won a damn thing in 8 years. Anyone else would have been fired.

This team is a missed 60-yard field goal away from being 0-2.

And now we will see the unmitigated brilliance of Mike Tomlin as he takes his team into New England to face a bad opponent. We all know what that means.

Finally, why the @#$% is this team going to spend a ton of capital to get a franchise QB when it is glaringly obvious to any sentient being that nothing changes as long as Captain No Losing Season is in charge.

At Patriots next week. Pivotol game as it will get UGLY if we lose that one and then have to head oversees.
Well look at it this way. It won't be Belicheat owning Tomlins ***. Im going to assume they are going to employ a physical run game with Vrabel. Im also going to assume they are well coached. So unless Harmon is back and it makes a huge difference, expect another 100 yard rushing against.

We have to fire the Defensive Coordinator. Highest paid team , 30+ points to average teams. It’s now or never.

The defensive coordinator is not the defensive coordinator. The team needs to fire the guy actually running the defense, but they are not going to do that. Therefore, nothing changes.

I no longer give a ****. My thinking is, "If the owners of the Steelers don't care, why should I?"
