seems like they want Washington to be a bigger part of the offense

Freiermuth seems to be the odd man out at TE

Running game has shown some life

rodgers has missed on several passes so far

Defense is playing tough

settling for 3 sucks

bullshit flag of the big punt return

JPJ drawing to flags on Juedy and a big PD

last drive of the half sucked...they stonewalled them all game then let them drive the field at the end of the half...put pressure on gabriel

settling for 3 sucks

2nd half starts with some strong running and a beutiful play action to a wide open DK.....but badly underthrown

gotta make thatplay

obvious they want washington involved..big day for him - 4 TE with receptions

R Wilson actually has a reception....WOW

how many picks can one team drop in a game?

nice RB by committee today

playcalling sucked a lot today

boz is awesome but that last FG attempt sucked.

bad turf making an impact

lot of backups in on the defense at the end...keep the old guys safe

love victory formation time for the Steelers

gotta work on tip drills on defense and listen to my play calling ideas on offense

How bout that stat shown during game? Late 20s in tight end yardage despite having like 29 of them on the 53 man roster.

They need to get another WR. Early in the game, they weren’t getting any separation. They need to start looking big picture as well, if they want to be a legit playoff threat, they need to get Aaron another receiver
^^^^This^^^^ They will be fun to watch at times, but not a serious contender if this is not addressed.

comfortable win (that's a first!), despite not creating any turnovers (until the one on downs).
23 points against a solid D is not thoo shabby, but it feels like with better playcaliling we could have scored 30

And Tomlin gets another win after a bye and against a rookie QB to BOOT!!!!

We played conservative at times...we were going against a rookie QB. In the end we played the clock game. I didn't like it during the game but in hind sight we won by 14. So there is that.

The announcers quoted Tomlin as saying the Browns offense " chews with their mouth closed".

They didn't know what he meant. Neither do I.

Freiermuth is a more talented receiver than Washington, but he is too weak of a blocker to be the TE1 in an offense that wants to run the ball like the Steelers do.

Washington is just a better overall TE, and there has been a huge difference in the running game since he became the primary player at the position a few weeks ago.

The running game is progressing nicely and Rodgers obviously still has it, despite what PFF says. At his age, December could be a different story, but that's too be seen.

Part of me still wishes they would have kept Pickens to give Rodgers both him and Metcalf for this year, but I understand why they wanted to move on from Pickens.

Defensively, the front 7 is bordering on dominant after a bad start to the season. It seems Harmon's injury as well as Heyward and Watt not playing at all in the preseason had an impact early on.

They, along with Herbig and Queen are playing at really high levels right now.

you are right, neutralizing the helmet assaulter was a big priority on the game plan and it worked, protect the AaRod and keep things under control

Been saying it since he got here, you simply have to get Washington more involved and it finally seems to have happened.
The guy is huge and tough to get down. Has soft hands and makes plays and blocks well.
I think Pat Friermuth may be on the way out.
Never thought he was anything special. Can’t block, nothing special with YAC. Move him and either get a draft pick or a player we can use.
Next, Herbig! How in the **** do you not make him a starter. The guy makes plays and creates havoc every game.
Highsmith has been good but Herbig is more dynamic and they have to make a decision in the off season. Highsmith will have one year left and Herbig the same so they better decide.
I would trade Highsmith in the off season and give Herbig a well deserved extension.
WR #2, they better get one before the trade deadline if they’re serious about contending this year. Metcalf and Rodgers both need help and a player like Olave or Jacoby Meyers would do just fine.
Finally, when they get a lead in games stop playing soft prevent defense late in the first half and in the fourth quarter. Stay aggressive and keep the pressure up. And please Tomlin, educate these boneheads with the art of tackling.
One of the worst tacking defenses in the league. Not going to work against the better teams you will be facing so start working on it.
I’m out!

That Turf is ridiculous and someone should be fired over it.. I thought i was going to see tumbleweeds.

Why we bring in TE smith ? Were throwing TD's to meatball instead. Rodgers is the only reason we are 4 and 1 right now. This guy can still throw but his wit is what is winning.

Everything was sloppy. The defense was making plays but seemed to lack composure.

How about not lining up off side also? I didn't think our tackling was bad today. A bunch of open field tackles that were huge. Muth would be fine if he was added to the game plan. He obviously isn't a huge part. Simply mind boggling since we gave him the 2nd contract. It is what it is. Tomlin played the clock game and it worked out pretty nicely.

The DPI call on Joey Porter Jr. where the receiver tackled him was terrible and simply underscores that referees see what they expect to see.
What? I believe they called offensive PI but we had 2 penalties ourselves and they off set each other so they replayed the down. No?

I’m still not convinced this is a team that can win in the playoffs% they play turtle ball and Tomlin never seems like he wants to put the other team away
That's Tomlin ball. It is what it is.

They definitely cannot afford to pay all three edge guys.

I personally would look to trade Highsmith in the off-season and give the money to Herbig, but I suspect they'll just let Herbig walk for mega bucks and rely on Sawyer developing (or drafting someone else) to replace Watt in a few years.

When it comes to WR2, I think the Steelers just like Austin a lot more than fans or media do.

I would definitely look to trade for a more established WR2, but I've been saying that since they traded Diontae Johnson a couple years ago.

It would be nice if Roman Wilson would capitalize on the opportunity by showing some more than he has.

No, I'm talking about the play where the receiver grabbed JPJ by the shoulder pads and threw him to the ground and they called DPI.
