As soon as a team loses a game because they had less yards but more points than the other team, I'll start caring more about yards than points.AI Overview
As of late December 2025, the Pittsburgh Steelers' offense ranks poorly, typically in the bottom third of the league, with their rushing offense around 28th (92.5 YPG) and their passing offense often in the 23rd-27th range, struggling to move the ball
Fact
Alot of that is the GOAT, not saying Smith doesn't play a part. A QB that is probably the smartest to ever play the game makes that stat look a lot different.
I think a lot of that was Haley, he was great calling plays between the 20's and terrible inside the 20's. Fichtner came in and was the opposite. He had us scoring in the redzone in 2018. Then We started the QB carousel and that was the end of Sphincter.Alot of that is the GOAT, not saying Smith doesn't play a part. Contrast that to Ben(not a put down of Ben) where many years we had some of the worst red zone offenses. Sandlot style works great till you get to the compressed part of the field and now you actually have to be very good at reading defenses and changing plays. Having said that, Ben of the two is the better QB at making chicken salad out of chicken shiit, maybe the best ever at that.
Respectfully disagree, Fichtner had one good year as far as red zone efficiency. After that it fell of a cliff. You would have to compare personnel changes and assistant coaching changes to try to figure out exactly what went on there. It's really mostly on the QB and what he sees as he has options, including checking out of the play.I think a lot of that was Haley, he was great calling plays between the 20's and terrible inside the 20's. Interesting Slash! Surprised by that and would have never imagined it.
Something to ponder here!
How good would Arthur be if the team had a legit compliment to Metcalf and if Tomlin allowed Artie to have full control of his offense.
Yes we need this division game, but nothing is more important than bringing in a #2 receiver before the deadline. They need to do whatever they have to and bring someone in like Waddle or Olave. I'd rather have Waddle as Olave is on his 4th concussion I believe.
Rooney said this would happen months ago...yeah it hasn't. If they don't do this we will then clearly know they are not serious about winning it all. This is the year to pull out all the stops as the division is there for the taking. No one looks dominant in the AFC or NFC, but the style of football we are playing will come to a screeching halt against the better teams without more firepower/points. We do well enough and who knows Rodgers may sign up for one more.
Make it so Rooney/Khan/Tomlin!
If you mean by horse power lack of X and Os and not favorable scheme I would have to agree. Many of us screamed this from the rooftops, yet they decided to just do enough to maybe get that playoff win and get the media and fans off their back. Like I said, this team, under this regime, is not to be taken seriously. Maybe because of Rodgers and if the O-line plays decently we could have a little fun in January, but I still don't think that there is enough horsepower to take out the top dogs.

Rodgers is a whole different animal than Ben. Different strengths.
Watch during this scrimmage as he diagnoses the defense then tells a DB he's not rushing..yeah he wasn't.
Accuracy...watch Peyton's reaction. His accuracy when he's healthy is ridiculous, we saw it in the Ravens game.
So what you are saying is they have a chance…I think Rodgers is more of a student of the game than Ben. Ben was just a different animal. Watching Rodgers the past couple of weeks looks like the confident Arod from his Packer days. His accuracy is still ridiculously amazing. Giving him MVS and Thielen along with DK has given him more confidence in the offense. A confident Aaron Rodgers in December with playoffs on the line is dangerous. They have to the opportunity the next couple of games to just open up the offense even more. If they go toe to toe with Goff and the Lions and lose close-I would feel good about them.
As far as Fichtner, he was OC by default. It was an admixture of the plays from Ariens and Haley that Ben liked.

Ya know, if Arod could have a song that kinda fits him now is ‘As Good as I Once Was’ by Toby Keith….lolThey've been much better in tge Red Zone but they have one of the most accurate passers in league history and he can see the matchups better then anyone. Problem is he is 42 not 32.
