If the Vikings hadn't traded their first away

Mike Zimmer must be desperate to win for trading for Brafford.

A. Peterson is hurt again. Out until December. Had Peterson been hurt before Bridgewater, do the Vikings make this trade?

I think trading away Santonio cost the Steelers a super bowl. It was the same argument, you're not going to keep him so may as well get something for him. Problem is that 5th round pick or whatever it was didn't help much when the steelers found themselves in the Super Bowl vs the Packers and the WRs were coming short.

Stonio was a risk but he was as much a salary cap issue as anything else.

More than anything this is a can they retain him issue. They will resign AB. Ben is on the books for a ton of cake. Will they pay Bell his market value, with his injury history and off the field issues. This could have been an opportunity to get something when they will eventually have nothing.

given the hypothetical of this scenario, why would we do it? even if it was for a 1st? you've seen how we **** up 1st round picks, but you'd want a 1st for Bell.

The more I think about this the more it pisses me off.. do you want to win the Super Bowl or do you want to have the Vikings first round pick? You want to depend on DW to stay healthy when he hardly ever has in his career? Or do you want to win the SB and if Bell walks he walks.

The way I see it is if we could be patient with Ben we can be patient with Bell..I don't see how the scenarios are any different. Different circumstances yes. Special players get special treatment. Wait and see if Bell cleans his life up. Ben did.

As I recall, a fumble by our 3rd option pretty much kept us out of last years Super Bowl. Rather have 2 healthy good backs
and better chance at this years Super Bowl than a draft pick. DWill would wear out as a full year #1 back if not get hurt.

Kind of, sort of, maybe but not really the same thing. Ben was accused of things that were never substantiated or proven. He was never convicted of anything. His suspension was for conduct unbecoming of the league. Bell has now been busted on multiple occasions for drugs (in what ever form). One more time and he is gone for a year. Plus, Bell has had multiple serious or pretty serious injuries.

Some in the local media feel neither Bell or Bryant will be with the team next year as neither is worth taking the risk of losing for a year.

Actually, Bell's next pop is only a 4 game break, the next after that is a year vacation.

I'm not talking about the legal non legal. I'm talking about the get your **** together part of it..The maturing and staying out bad situations part of it. That's what I mean. The Steelers were patient with Ben to get his act together and mature and I feel they can do the same with Bell.

And Ben has had some pretty serious injuries also.

And what's the risk..The team doesn't have to pay the player. Make sure you have a capable back up. And keep going forward. If the player cleans his act up then. You have the best RB in the league at your disposal. Or In Bryants case a special talent opposite the best WR in the league.

now it is a 4 than 10 than a year?

Why not just make it 4 - 10 - 12-1/2 -15-3/4 - Season

How is it that as much as it's been discussed on this board people still think his next suspension if there is one is a year. It's 4 games..It was part of the settlement

Bell will never come close to reaching his potential and putting up HOF numbers because he will continue to fail drug tests. He'll end up on an island smoking ganja with Ricky Williams.

I see this happening. Love the guy as a player, but we as fans gotta realize these guys are a different culture. If I was on a multi million dollar contract and had access to high grade mary jane----shoot

Yeah, but we might never have gotten to the SB without that 6th round pick. I seem to remember him making a catch on 3rd and 19 against the Rats, with the game on the line. This is not to even mention all the catches he's made since then. I'll make that trade every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. That said, I agree with you 100% on not trading Bell. At least not now. We're a serious contender for another Lombardi. We'd be fools to weaken ourselves right now. I don't want to see us in New England in January, with Toussaint in the backfield again.

Two plays I vividly remember from that game. First, Kemoeatu getting pushed back into Ben for an INT early in the game. If Kemoeatu had not been pushed back into Ben that INT doesn't happen. Packers got a pick 6 on that play and went up 14-0.

Second play, Spinthenfall and his fumble. First play of the 4th quarter and we were unstoppable at that point. If we had scored on that possession we were winning the game.

I'll bet you dinner at Combine Brothers that he fails another drug test. We can get our official Steeler Nation banners at Walmart while we're there.

History. It ain't gonna change. Ditto Martavius.

I want in on this too. lol. Bell will never fail another drug test. I will be just about anything on that.

I would put the odds at the betting window at 2:1 that Bell will be suspended again at some point for a violation of the league's drug policy.

He may not fail another but could whoops miss another...

so far he had been suspended in half the seasons he has been in the league, not a great track record for responsibility

Just want to make this clear...again, Bell hasn't failed a drug test yet. He has never been suspended for FAILING a drug test. He had a DUI and a MISSED test, but no failures...

But I gotta think he "missed" the tests because he knew he wouldn't pass.

He missed the tests because he didn't clear his travel schedule with the person administering the test, it's why it was reduced to a three game suspension and not the full four game suspension it was originally. He passed every other test they have given him, including up to and after the missed test.

Okay, we'll see. I hope he doesn't get suspended again but I wouldn't put money on it.

Insaniti a missed test is the same as a fail, so yes he has failed a test. The DUI he also was in possession of weed, I'm sure he was just holding it for Blount though with no intention of actually smoking it himself. Now that is insane.

This doesn't even take into account the fact that in nearly every photo of him for over a year he has obviously either just got high as hell or just finished swimming for a hour with no goggles because his eyes are cashed as hell, is he Chinese?

Helluva talent, but pretty obvious rope head

That being said, people can change and grow up/get wiser

Maybe the league could get wiser and realize marijuana is not a performance enhancing drug but rather a powerful medicine and drop it from the banned substance list, not holding my breath on that though.

People also fail to take into account he was on probation for the DUI. He also had to pass tests for that.

People keep thinking this is about his drug risk. I'm thinking it is about money. I just simply believe you can pay top three or four QB money, top receiver money and top 4 running back money on the same season. Obviously the Steelers know their cap situation. If they can keep the three of them together next season I wouldnt make any trade.
