I'd bet they would be calling about Leveon Bell. And I would have a real hard time not taking that trade. You would have to substantially lower DWills carries, but you get get a stud running back (which is the easiest plug and play position) next year and still have another first for another position (possibly your QB of the future). It is going to be real tough to sign Bell next year and the franchise tag is still going to be through the roof. I'm sure some will balk, but I'd make that move. D'will is just as durable in my mind and they might both be one year stop gaps anyways. Admittedly they are probably both low first rounders, but still.

Um Dwill is 33... he wont play much longer and the wheels can come off at any moment...

Bell is a surefire thing and 1st rounders can easily bust... i dont do that at all

Bell will never come close to reaching his potential and putting up HOF numbers because he will continue to fail drug tests. He'll end up on an island smoking ganja with Ricky Williams.

Smh... I can't wait till Bell just shuts everyone up. Ridiculous.

The need to stop testing for pot in the nfl

I'll bet you dinner at Combine Brothers that he fails another drug test. We can get our official Steeler Nation banners at Walmart while we're there.

If running backs are the easiest plug n play position, why haven't we had one every year? Why don't all backs lighting up the league?

I can't wait till Bell grows up and realizes the crazy potential he has. He is an undeniable talent, and a dumb ***- I'll wait and see which side of him prevails. I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.

As far as trading him, lunacy

I'm with ya Vis on that

Why are you so sure of that?? I mean I'm not saying he will not fail a drug test ever again I truly don't know.. but why are you so sure he will

History. It ain't gonna change. Ditto Martavius.

The whole debate (hypothetical as it is) hinges on whether or not they can and plan to retain his services beyond this season. If not you would be stupid not to make that deal.

Or you can realize the point is to win the super bowl and not gather draft picks so you keep Bell, go for the super bowl, and if he leaves then he leaves.

He will more than likely get franchise tagged next year. That gives the team a chance to find a suitable replacement via UFA or the draft. If he stays clean and injury free maybe he gets himself a new deal. I highly doubt they let him walk without tagging him however.

Remember when some people wanted to get rid of Ben after he kept having off the field issues?

This time as far as I know the suspension was for missing tests not failing them. With that in mind I would if I were the steelers be testing him every week regardless of what the league does, provided it does not violate some collective bargaining agreement. The results of those tests would tell me what I wanted to do with Bell. There is little value in signing a player that will be suspended and not playing no matter how good he is. D wills is a very good back but he does not likely have much left before age catches up with him. The steelers will need to find another great back in the coming draft or the one after it.

First rounders do fail to live up to their draft position, we can look at the present roster to see that. Drafting a running back should be lots easier than finding a quarter back and we will likely need to do that soon as well.

I think trading away Santonio cost the Steelers a super bowl. It was the same argument, you're not going to keep him so may as well get something for him. Problem is that 5th round pick or whatever it was didn't help much when the steelers found themselves in the Super Bowl vs the Packers and the WRs were coming short.

We still need a healthy smart Bell Williams is getting older and has carried the ball a ton, I see no trade. I hope to see both backs used to keep healthy and fresh by Tomlin.

I want in on this too. lol. Bell will never fail another drug test. I will be just about anything on that.

I disagree big time. Holmes was more accomplished at the time than Sanders and Brown obviously but Wallace had a breakout year that season. The depth at receiver was also better overall and Sanders got hurt in the Super Bowl and was a big part of the game plan. There's nothing you can do about that. That trade to me was the perfect mix of best for now and best for the future. That was a home run.

That will take years, just as it took years for people to lose confidence in him.

It's not ridiculous, it's Bell's own doing.

I would put the odds at the betting window at 2:1 that Bell will be suspended again at some point for a violation of the league's drug policy.

He may not fail another but could whoops miss another...

so far he had been suspended in half the seasons he has been in the league, not a great track record for responsibility
