I'm so tired of people that KEEP saying the Steelers aren't in the playoffs even if they win out. If we win out, we're in.

We are out - if the playoffs started today - only because the Jets have played one more conference game than we have (they are 6-4, we are 5-4).

If we win out and the Jets win out we tie them at 7-5

It would go to the next tie break - common opponents. We would be in because of that.

Really? Awesome! This made my day. Thanks Justin!

I agree with you justin. I have been saying that for 5 weeks. I read all the schedules and worked all the tie breakers and knew that is we won out we are in. The Jets won't win out tho. The pansies will beat them.

Can't believe these words are coming from my mouth but go cowgirls. Spit. Yuck.

Your not "sick AND tired" just tired. Ok so there is still some wiggle room.

Win or lose the cowboys beating the jets doesnt really help us... If we lose another game the jets have to lose an afc game for us to regain the tiebreaker... Which we already have. Once we beat the broncos, the jets can pound the cowboys by 100 points and we still flip flop into a playoff spot

I guess it will get a bonus check for our guys but I don't see us as anything but a one and done team in the playoffs. I don't think we have been consistently good enough to advance at that level and I have no confidence in the coaching staff.

As is the case woth every other team too... Dynasties are dead... Get past the cheaters who will be stealing signals in full force and who else is even above average these days?.... Get in and you have a real shot, regardless of flaws

I'm going to restate this... because the amount of steeler fans that have no clue are annoying me today... The jets game didn't mean a damn thing for the playoffs.. there was no scenario where the jets losing to the Cowboys would have helped... even a little... If the steelers win out they are in the playoffs, because they have the same amount of AFC losses as the jets, but have a better common opponent record... if the steelers lose one more game they will have an inferior afc record and will need the jets to lose to another afc team to regain that tiebreaker... thus this was only important for the jets, who hope to finish a game ahead of KC and get in the playoffs... *If the steelers beat Denver this week, they leapfrog the Jets into a playoff spot... Dallas didn't matter... enjoy the cowboys loss....

In the drivers seat baby

just win !

something is wrong with ESPNs playoff machine... It wont give us a scenario for the division, even though we should have several options....

right now if the Bengals lost vs the Ravens and vs Broncos... we would drop to strength of victory... in that scenario we would have beaten the following teams that the bengals didn't... The cardinals (11-2), the colts (6-8), and the Broncos (10-3) the bengals beat the seahawks,(9-5) the Chiefs (9-5) and the Bills (9-5)... there should be a lot of scenerios with the division in play

No scenario, huh?

Sorry, some of us are under the impression that best overall record is the most critical factor in making the playoffs and that the Steelers and Jets currently have the same record.

Talk about clueless and annoying.

Whats clueless about it... if the Jets had lost to the cowboys and we lost to any of the last 3 teams we would be out and they would be in... if we won all three and they won all three we are in and they are out.

we currently have a huge lead on strength of victory with them too... so their only real hope is that we lose one and they dont lose the two afc games they have left. if you have a tiebreaker with a team its as good as being a game up... if you are a game up but any loss puts you in a situation where you lose the tiebreaker, then you still have to win out... the dallas game didnt help us or hurt us at all... we are now the 6th seed and the jets won.... now next week if the Jets lose that gives us a game of breathing room... that matters...

If the Jets lose against the Pats I think the Steelers only have to win one of the last two. But they have no business losing to either team remaining.

I will say if you look at the seeding I think most would agree you want to win the next two. As it is possible the Steelers could jump up to 5th. And as no path to the SB is easy, I think it is better matchups for them.....

You can't say that anymore than you can say the Steelers loss to Seattle didn't help or hurt them at all. Tie-breakers only matter given a tie, the Jets losing to the Cowboys could have prevented that.

Lets say the Dallas game was moved to the end of the season... that it was the last game of the season.... If the steelers beat Denver, the ravens and the Browns, it would not matter if the jets won their prior two games then won that game 100-0, the steelers go to the playoffs...

Lets say the steelers drop 1 game in that same scenario... the jets clinch before they even play it, they could rest the whole team and it wouldn't matter...

When finishing in a tie gives one team an absolute tiebreaker its as good as being a game up on that team... no matter what if we lose one of our games down the stretch we needed the jets to lose an AFC game to regain our lead on them... so if they lost to Denver this week, the jets could lose the Pats game and win the dallas and Bills game, and wed still be in...
