If Rudy Struggles

If 1 game could do that. Coming off the bench QBs can give a false perspective. Just like going into the game the Bengals backup had outperformed Joe Burrow.

Is anyone thinking they should dump Joe? That Bungles QB came back to reality today. Rudolph will too.
The good thing for Rudy is that the reality he comes back to is an often injured QB1 that can’t read the field, gets skittish easily and is wildly inaccurate and a QB2 that flat out sucks, should’ve never got an extension and is likely sliding the depth chart if not out the door in 2 games

Another game or two like this and he’ll save the GOAT’s precious record and likely earn himself another deal (if not from us then a much smarter team)

But what a way to get into Mediocre Mike’s good graces, and once you’re a “Tomlin dude” it’s just like being a made man

I like Rudy and hope he has success wherever he goes.
For the older folks on the board.... Every time I look at Mason, I see Robby Benson. He's an actor/singer from long ago.

Here's a video...Whadda ya think?

I remember Robby **** you are showing our age.😉

Doesn't sound like you are as sold on Rudy as other think we should be.

But yeah that two sided sword. You want to like good performances but as far as the HC perspective it can be like oh **** does that mean we are stuck with MM for another extension? I think we know that answer.

I would roll with Rudy as the backup and shelf Mitch for good. If KP isn't 100 percent healthy then I would start him against the Seahawks and see if lighting strikes twice. They have similar D rankings to the bungles, but I like their HC better in comparison.

I watched Rudolph’s last 3 starts. This is what I am seeing.

Good understanding of presnap reads and offensive system. He is very active presnap and knows where he wants to throw the ball before the snap. The good thing with that is the ball gets out quickly. The bad thing is if a blitz comes through he has a tendency to throw to his check down without even looking for a defender. Better to throw the ball away than get a pick. He did throw on at the RB feet last night so maybe he’s learned. Accuracy can be a little inconsistent. Not sure how much of that is due to timing. Vs the Lions he seemed like he wasn’t on the same page as his receivers multiple times. Last night a couple of missed passes. I think some of that could be cleaned up with playing time. Deep ball understanding is probably his best attribute and weakness. He often takes away half the field at the snap. More often than not he’s reading the safety and coverage and knows where the single coverage is and is willing to throw it up and let his guy make a play. He also will check down that side getting to 2nd and 3rd reads on the one side of the field. It’s a smooth transition from read to read and allows for the ball to get out quickly. Roethlisberger would scramble around and extend the play. That is not Rudolph. Legs are not a strength or weakness. He can and will scramble for the first and though not nimble he has decent straight line speed.

I would say he’s probably a Geno Smith type QB right now. Maybe not top 10 but probably middle of the pack.

I said in my offseason post I would cut Mitch the second we resigned Mason and use that money to bolster our DL or secondary. I said the only big mistake by Khan was extending and not cutting Mitch. Imagine having another safety or CB right now. Would definitely have helped last night.

FordNoHairLine is spazzing, he should seek help.
