If a Steelers player kneels....

Being a fan of the Steelers since 1964, knowing what the Steeler image meant to the ones that had to leave for economy and how they still supported the Steelers, I would be totally disappointed in any player disrespect tonight. All races have some group that feels injustice against, all races have drug and economic influence in wrong behavior that is looked upon by anyone in power closely, all races have gangs and violence contributing to profiling. These players have feel nothing since high school if they were stars, they were given every opportunity to succeed. they have problems with authority treatment become policeman and go out and see what attitudes and situations they are placed in everyday. Disrespecting a symbol of our freedom and ones who have given to this cause is spitting on your country. The ones saying no need to stand is why our country is where it is today.

I would be infuriated! From someone who had family/friends die on 9/11 and family who have fought for our freedoms.

Long story ... I am/ was a Dolphin fan as well I was born and raised in Pa,grew up in Florida and,I was ashamed what the Dolphin players did. Seattle showed unity.
Many Miami fans are disgusted and are done with them .

Freedom of speech does not permit an employee to behave in a manner that hurts his employer. The NFL has every right to tell players to stand up or sit in locker room if it so desires - only the government would be forbidden from making them act differently.

I get there are still issues in this country...unfortunately. It boggles me how anyone can be prejudiced. There is good and bad in everyone. There have been so many killed needlessly in Chicago for years...but now that there is BLM because of Travon and continues to most cops doing their job other then some bad apples ....riots,destroying property and disrespecting the flag and anthem infuriates me! Take your millions that you have been blessed with and volunteer and start your own mentoring programs of inner-city youth to help their mostly single mothers. And birth control.... so sorry got on my soap box... jmo

Great first post Natalie welcome to Steeler Nation!

I was proud of the Steeler and Tomlin's remarks that the Steelers would respect their own. Better than the glory ESPN gave the beginning of the San Fran game,.

Did anyone see James Harrison's tweet before the game about anyone of his teammates who doesn't stand for the National Anthem? He said if they have a broken leg that's ok but if they don't and don't stand he will break their legs!!!! I ******* LOVE THAT GUY!

But rights give you legal recourse. If the NFL decides players must stand or be subject to a fine or termination, it's not a violation of any constitutional right as people have suggested or even argued. Their JOB is a privelege, not a right.

Speaking of privelege. I'm of the opinion that over-privelege is what is fueling these protests. I'm betting none of these players has done a damn thing or given a red cent for this cause that is obstensibly so important to them.

"At-will employment is a legal presumption in all U.S. states (other than Montana[1]), whereby either an employer or an employee may, with no adverse legal consequences, terminate the employment relationship for any legal or no reason."

Not sure what your point is here. Even if they weren't at-will, they could still be punished for staging a protest at their place of employment.

I am not saying throw the protester in jail, for crying out loud. But I sure as hell will not be inclined to SUPPORT the protester, particularly where the protester failed to say a word about the violence inflicted by the same group of people he claims are now victims.

Big difference.

In any event, I do agree with your last statement. Were these guys marching in the peaceful protests in the streets in Ferguson/Dallas/Baton Rouge? During the rioting where the perpetrators were destroying the very neighborhoods they were supposed to be standing up for, were these guys standing around with a bull horn calling for peace? I don't recall them being at either place. if not, **** them.

My thoughts exactly.

You will never get any support from me on this UNTIL you man up, and come out and speak about the REAL problem.

Totally agreed. Far greater transgressions have been had by players still playing in the league. Again, James Harrison will break your leg for kneeling but he clapped his girlfriend on the ear so hard it broke her phone. While she was locked in a closet calling 911. I get nothing has happened since, but socking a woman in the head is a little more unsettling to me.

Was that the case? If so, I'm a little pissed I didn't see that reported, the story I heard was he knocked it out of her hand while she was dialing. WAY different in my opinion.

At any rate, I've made it quite clear, I just don't give a ****. I wouldn't sit, but it's my ******* choice to sit or stand. The NFL isn't paying these guys to stand, they are paying them to play football, this tarnish the shield **** is bullshit. Let the legal system do what the legal system does, and leave the NFL out of it.

This is a perfect example of this country having its priorities so completely ****** up. The country is real distress but we are up in arms over what some ATHLETES do at a game, that is for ENTERTAINMENT.

We have much bigger, real issues that are impacting our daily lives that **** on the foundation of this country every day. The fact that Trump and Clinton are our presidential noms is much more concerning to me than some ballers taking a knee. Thats just one of item of a very long list. Im more pissed off at the IRS, There is another one. We can go on for days.

I will ignore it. It's all about the media making it a big deal.

That's what all protests are and it's the only way they have a chance of working.

People are dying of hunger every day and you are worrying about THE IRS and TRUMP and CLINTON. See, I can do that too.

They dont have to be mutually exclusive. Add them to the list. I also regularly volunteer and donate to the Houston Food Bank and Texas Chidlren's Hospital. What do you do?

So as much as I dislike the Cryboys and Jerry Jones if the follow is true -- go Jerry

"Jerry Jones went into the locker room before the Cowboys Giants game yesterday. He looked around at all the young men and addressed them as a group. “Regardless of your personal opinions, this is a sacred day that we recognize the sacrifice and pain that so many have endured. When the National Anthem is played by a lone trumpet player in a few minutes you WILL stand and you WILL put your hand over your hearts.” Jerry waited a second and made eye contact with several players to make sure his words had sunk in. He knew he had there undivided attention and proceeded. “You gentlemen are world class athletes, but you are also actors. You perform on a stage that is 100 yards long. Today, you play the role of a patriotic super hero. You will play this role well because you know that millions of children will be watching and looking at your example.” Then his inner fire started to shine through as he said quietly “but most of all I want you to remember, you are the actors, but this is MY stage and you will play the role I tell you to.”

bullshit I didn't do three tours in viet nam in special forces for somebody who never paid their dues.

Agreed. There are a lot bigger things to worry about. Us fans are to blame for being suckered into the media sensation though. Look how much of a discussion this topic is ruffling our feathers. When I turn on an nfl game I want to watch football. I dont want to watch so and so refuses to stand during an anthem or some other soap opera story line. Thats one thing where the nfl has gotten out of hand is the story line drama leading up to kickoff. At that point its pure entertainment. With that said **** the nfl and Go Steelers!

Just be a good human. Period.

We wrap ourselfs in flags, countries, states, races, colors, sports teams...etc and what does it do. Separate the basic fundamental thing, life. Just be a good human.

It pisses me off about CK and others disrespecting the flag, and my country. Im not a service man, (never had the balls), but I have profound respect for those men/women of all races, colors, religions that stood up for this flag and said **** you ...you can not pass (see what I did there). While it pisses me off because of the disrespect it shows, **** it. Does it impact me or how I view this flag or people or all color and status. No. I just think they should go to Canada. Lol.

This whole **** storm started over SF's back up QB. I completely disagree with them doing it, but athlete's aren't role models anyways.
