I think we need an injuries thread / Ryan Shazier, Jarvis Jones Injured

I'm starting to worry about Shazier. He missed 4 games with a knee and 3 games with an ankle injury last year. Now he has a back injury. Some guys just have a tough time staying on the field and I'm not liking how this looks right now.
Dupree better turn out to be Jesus in shoulder pads, or we're potentially looking at three consecutive blown first round picks by Tombert.

Some people are unlucky.

I'll cut Jones some slack on this one he injured his wrist requiring surgery last year. That just happens. Part of the game. Thomas and Shazier need to grow a pair. How many times would you see Hines Ward just get blasted. You don't wake up Monday morning feeling good. But he got himself together. Can't make the club from the tub boys.

You also have to remember this is training camp. Everything is under a microscope, And they can afford to let the players sit out longer to let those minor injuries heal.

As one of their main goals is to get out of training camp with as limited amount of injuries as possible.

Keep in mind, we do have the time this year. We have an extra week of Camp. If someone misses a week, they still have as much Camp as the rest of the league.

True, often injuries in training camp are things that wouldn't keep guys out of a game in the regular season. For Jones and Shazier getting hurt already though, it's just not a good look.

I read that Jones and Shazier are fine. Jones was back in practice.

Let's just cross our fingers that Bryant's "infection" in his minor elbow wound isn't MRSA and it ends up spreading to anyone else on the team.

Good news. But can Jarvis actually rush the passer in practice? Gonna start calling him Strugglerush like Trent Richardson is Strugglecuts

Maybe so, but there are guys like Farrior, Keisel, Smith who when they were younger just never seemed hurt. And don't get me wrong there is a luck thing to that. When you get a major injury there is nothing anyone can say. But I think some guys are just a little fine tuned and a little tight, and they always have a ding. And some guys just don't have a high pain threshold and are in the wrong profession. Being stacked with muscles usually makes you strong, it doesn't make you tough or durable. That happens in the mind.

Shazier's knee injury last year was because of a hit directly on the knee by either Timmons or someone Timmons pushed into him. It's not like he was running untouched and hurt himself.

Tomlin's print out today indicated a lot of these are minor. Glad they are taking the time to rest evaluate and heal these guys so one injury does not help cause another. Foster has Stingers, Jarvis had a contusion. Things like that are good to let heal and give them some rest for a day or two. Golson still out may have a more serious injury but getting Boykin will mitigate that issue. Serious injuries in the young guys gets them replaced if they are on the fringes and the injury is serious.
Actually looks like a good plan with injuries and being cautious so as not to push someone when they are hurt. Sprains will heal better than a torn muscle and pushing someone past an initial injury often ends up bad.

An early season knee injury forced the Steelers' Ryan Shazier to miss four games. He came back in the middle of the season, but he got a high ankle sprain against the Ravens that forced him to miss the next four games. He played in the final three regular-season games as a reserve.
Two injuries and basically the whole season washed out. and lets not pretend there wasn't whispers through the media about teammates questioning his toughness. I like the pick, I like the player. I just don't like a young guy who has had trouble staying on the field hurt again in the first week of camp.

There are gonna be bumps and bruises. I know Goodell has tried to take pussify the game but it's still football.

Tis why I didn't comment on the ankle issue as I didn't remember any specifics (nor was I intending to comment on his toughness), but you can't, seriously, include the knee injury when trying to decide if he is made of glass.

Golosn headed to IR?

Maybe. Tomlin has not talked much about the injury and the Steelers just traded away a 5th round pick for a cornerback.

One of my friends is a big Ohio State fan. His judgment has been very good about Ohio State players on whether or not they will make good pros.

So when the Steelers drafted Shaizer, I asked for his opinion. He said Shazier is a great playmaker but referred to him as Ryan Swarovski saying he’s get dinged up too easily. Looks like he could right on both counts.

He said Grant was a solid tackler, but not a tight coverage player. He did say Grant's got good hands and speed though.

It's out there if you look for it. Talk of shoulder surgery and season-ending IR. Tough luck, I feel bad for the kid.

Yeah. I was not keen on this pick and even mentioned his light frame as a red flag to stay healthy in the NFL.

Bermuda, can ya pass that straw ( You're stirring the herd ). I'll be creating my Jarvis Jones has little value for the team if he can't win a starting job thread soon.

All I see anywhere are speculations based on the trade and the injury... not even an unnamed source rumor...... there is a lot of preseason before IR or PUP needs to be addressed

unless it happens or there is some "real" support for the idea...that thought can just stay in this Injury thread
