If Ben doesn't play perfectly this team can't win.

True, the officials were utterly determined to help the Bolts stay in this game. I think they failed to foresee that the Bolts might get a ton of momentum and turn it into a route the other way.

Regardless, the defense can play well enough to make teams work down the field, but they can't get critical stops and I can't remember the last time they got a meaningful turnover.

If Ben isn't perfect, this team can't win. And when Roethlisberger retires, I can't imagine the team breaking .500, I truly can't.

Tomlin does just enough to keep you believing in him. But he's a snake oil salesman when it comes to preparing and guiding the team. He just can't do it. I'm not bagging on him. He's had a relatively easy gig. Ben IS a H.O.F. qb and he has literally given Tomlin et al. their precious 8 games or better throughout his career. But without him, Tomlin can't possibly figure out how to get the team into a wining situation.

But I'm not merely blaming Tomlin. The entire organization has gotten lethargic and complacent. It's not unlike the Dolphins of the 80's. You got a QB of that caliber, you don't NEED to do anything else. Eventually HE'S going to get it done for you. It cost Miami and it's costing the Steelers.

If you cant produce a turnover and the defense is what it is yeah you are right he has to play perfect.

Imagine if we had just ONE play maker on defense, we would probably be a playoff team.
These defensive players are so clumsy and pathetic.

******* truly amazing. Tomlin was suppose to be this great defensive mind but this defense under his watch has suspiciously gotten worse every year. It’s the absolute worst period in Steeler history for defense under this clown.
We used to be known for decades on tough, physical defensive play but now we’re soft, mistake prone, undisciplined, poorly prepared and poorly coached, out of position and inadequate defensive schemes. What a joke! But we satisfied the Rooney Rule.

There is playmakers the scheme just sucks ***.

Some of y’all really can’t let go of the “Rooney Rule” thing, can you? Can’t we just leave it at him sucking as a coach?

I mean - it’s true. He is horrible. Every year we have superior talent and every year we lose games because we are outschemed and commit tons of penalties and turnovers. Every. Single. Year. No two ways about it the team is horribly coached.

But god damn it just sounds bitter and beside the point entirely to belabor the whole “Rooney Rule” thing. Good grief

My dead horse. - This offense is built around a perfect Ben. No balance at all. IMO we can be a much better offense with commitment to the run game. We have the line. We have the back. Yes we have a weak defense, but we could help it with a little more ball control. It is the weirdest offense in the NFL. Good luck plugging in a back up.

And for as sloppy as the O is the D can't cover ****.
