Hue Jackson just hired by Clowns

Over on the Clowns message board you'd think they just signed Vince Lombardi to be their next head coach...best possible hire, Super Bowl bound in three years...

hahahaha

They say that about EVERY new coach!

I think they got a good coach. I liked what he had going in Oak but for ownership. Who knows. Same problem he got in Cleveland. How long will Joe numbers allow the team to be subpar.

It will take a great Coach and GM to change this dumpster fire. That and a Franchise quarterback.

Sounds like good news for us - Cincinnati has been dealt a blow on offense and the Browns won't get that much better anyway since they'll be searching for another QB. If I was a hot QB prospect I would seriously be taking the "stay in school" advice seriously. Only problem is the Browns will be picking high next year, too.

Do not be surprised if Cardale Jones happens in the second round.

He could be JaMarcus Russell, but he could also be Joe Flacco.

Hue Jackson knows his football. He also knows the AFCN. Should be interesting.

Good hire by the Browns.

And, just a few hours into the job, he already scored points by saying they'll move on from Manziel.

I like it.

(The Steelers had a long, storied history of misery and mediocrity - much longer than the Browns' woes, BTW - until Noll came along. Maybe Jackson's hiring will get the Browns on the right track.)

Can't believe he didn't at least interview for the Giants job. Great OC though.

So first the baseball statistics guy and now Hue . . .winning "out of box" formula or just clutching at straws?

Hue Jackson once accepted the raiders HC job... you know the one that Whiz interviewed for, then walked away despite being offered it because he wanted the interview experience but not the job... because it was an early death sentence for a career... The browns FO is currently more FUBAR'd than the raiders were... and that's with guys wanting out already... do you think any of those vets want a part of another 3 to 4 year rebuild?

They have what, the No. 2 overall pick? And Josh Gordon comes back. They have talent on both sides of the ball.

It's not a lost cause by any means.

Josh Gordon has to pass a drug test to get back in the league. what are the chances he can do that then pass another few in season? that guy makes Bryant look like a saint when it comes to the weed and booze... this guy had two consecutive year long suspensions... one got reduced and he still managed to get suspended again by the end of the year, and went out and promptly got a dui....

if jerry has brain which he does not given the scenerio of a often injured qb and if I had to pick who will be on the move i would rather go for RG over Jhonny,
RG could be a prime canditiate to go to texans esp after thier failure with both mallett and hoyer.

RG3 and Houston are a match, but can he still do it? He looked beyond horrible in those 3 starts. I mean, non-functional.

The question remains; how long will this one get? I say two seasons max and the search begin again.

No one lasts longer than two years.

They've already begun the search for his replacement in two years, the Browns are like the Boy Scouts, be prepared. :rip2:

I thought you were just trolling. Then I looked it up...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Cleveland_Browns_head_coaches

8 ******* coaches since they expanded in '99. That is just gawd awful ownership.

What is it...since the return in 1999:
-25 starting QBs with a 26th (or more) coming next year
- Hue will be the 9th Head coach counting the interim one

it gets worse...

They have had, counting mangini's interim half year 8 GM's in that timeframe... about to be 9...

Depending on who you count as the CEO/Team president its a number between 6 and 7 as of next year

The first owner died and left it to his son who sold it to Haslam... so what 3 owners.... since 99?

Man that place is the definition of unstable...

No not really. The Steelers were miserable from 1933 to 1971 = 38yrs.

The browns, except for a bright spot in the late 80's have sucked for the most part from 1970. They may have had a couple more spurts of success than the Steelers but nothing to write home about..

people should remember the 50's and to a lesser extent the 60's The Browns were the product of playing in a league with NO DRAFT... they could sign whomever they wanted to whatever contract they wanted as long as they could afford to, and they could... they had the biggest purse strings in that league... its why the NFL cannabilized them... they were outbidding them for a ton of 1st round talents, and for the first decade in the league they were dominant... as thos players retired and the process slowly equalized them, they fell back to mediocrity where they settled at until the 90s, when they relocated. since returning they have been in flux nonstop... they have never had a chance to settle out and build anything

Pretty smart choice then... he got a 4/5 year contract... that is up to a three year paid vacation

Speaking of, i read that Charlie Weis's contract with Notre Dame just ran out 12/31/15. He was still getting checks. He is still getting checks from Kansas and he hasn't coached there in years either. He may have been a ****** coach without the advantage of spygate, but he knew how to negotiate a contract.

Dammit I wish you were right so I could throw this into the face of some browns fans, but I looked it up and the NFL draft started in 1936
