You watch a player step onto the field and see the familiar things first, the way their shoulders loosen, the focus settling behind the eyes, the tiny breath before the whistle. What you don’t see is the work happening underneath. The mental rehearsals. The interior adjustments. The practiced calm that doesn’t switch off when the game ends.
