How many high picks on D wasted?

As they eye adding yet ANOTHER high draft pick on D, note how many we've recently already added/drafted yet the D STILL stinks.

- Haden. Top 7 pick in draft.
- Burns - 1st round
- Dupree - 1st round
- Heyward - 1st
- JT - 1st
- Edmunds - 1st
- Jarvis Jones - 1st (Such a bad pick he isn't even playing football any more.)
- Shazier - 1st. (got hurt)
- Davis - 2nd
- Tuitt - 2nd.

All those high draft picks and what do we have to show for it? It's either bad drafting or bad coaching. Or both. But something is wrong, there ain't no denying that.
 
We have hit on this topic to death.

But..........

The run D is improved from last year so there is that.

Davis seems to be better as a FS, so there is that.

Heyward and Tuitt pushes the pocket decently so there is that.

Edmunds is getting better, so there is that.

Haden and Hilton are solid so there is that.

And they have went from the 30s ranking to the 20s.

Small overall improvement, but there is that.

Roughly half.

All those high draft picks and what do we have to show for it? It's either bad drafting or bad coaching. Or both. But something is wrong, there ain't no denying that.

It's hard to say but I weigh it toward bad drafting. It's not like any of them went anywhere else and did better under different coaches.

Yeah we cant draft like the Patriots... wait they suck at that also

And what picks are those in the first. Yeah that’s right the bottom.
 
The Steelers draft from the bottom half. Watt, Shazier, Heyward are all value well above where they were drafted. Davis and Tuitt are the same for the second round. Jarvis was a bust. Burns is probably a bust. Dupree isn't a bust. Average. I bet that is nfl average for drafting or better.

He was a good pass rusher, and would have been the top Edge rusher in FA that year. Too bad he didn't want to play football. That decision cost the Steelers a 3rd rounder.

Our problem is the DB's, only Haden is a good coverage player as of right now. We'll see how Edmunds develops.

Actually Shazier might have been our 2nd best coverage player, once he got hurt the entire defense took a step backward.
