I'm not positive exactly what precipitated the whole AB thing. I just know giving him more money up front that he wouldn't be making in future years was bad business that they have to get away from. I guess they will not really get out from under the cap for real till Ben retires, but then they don't have a proven QB.

Ben could have taken less to enable the team to put more around him in these last few years. That's all I'm saying.

Yes, right now Stafford and Cousins are the highest paid. Ben is 7th on the list.

How much more could be put around Ben? Ben making less money won't make Tomlin stop playing 2 DL on the goal line. It won't stop our kicker from missing kicks. Who were they going to bring in to help the defense from playing a LB on another teams top WRs? Seriously who is going to help with that crap? The Steeler's problems aren't all player related. It's coaching related.

Didn't' they just give Ben a 2-year deal with a $37.5 mill signing bonus? That $ had to come from somewhere. Wouldn't that bonus plus his salary ding the cap for $45 mill in 2019?
