How dumb do you have to be to test positive for the chronic at the combine?

Dumb enough to get the Steelers to draft you in the 2nd round...apparently

These players continue to show their stupidity to not think they would get caught as well as the self entitlement attitude to think it is OK.

he'll drop to 1.22

Let's see millions of dollars and a chance at being set for life(unless you're a spending dumbass or knock up 5 different chicks) vs getting high?.....hmmmm...singing "I was going to be a big NFL star, but then i got high" Common sense seems to be a rare gift.

Kid looks as skinny if not skinnier than Jarvis and weighs less than Shazier. Some of the folks on this board would explode if they drafted him with the marijuana issue alone, let alone the scarecrow build. lol

All the way to 22....do we draft him? lol

If I'm in charge? No way. I don't care that he smokes pot; honestly, I don't - I DO care that he smoked pot less days before combine OR was such a chronic user that he got pinged after being off for several months.

I also don't care that he admits it and says he is sorry and will stay clean from now on. He may but his talent does not offset the risk.

Of course, if he was there in the 3rd round then - yea, sure. First round? HELL NO.

OLB Justin Houston fell to the 3rd round after testing positive at the combine, just food for thought. I've never liked Gregory anyway, thought he was overrated, this doesn't help my opinion of him, but I wouldn't have drafted him regardless.

Beat me to it.

Gregory said he has not smoked marijuana since December, but because his THC levels were so elevated, the drug remained in his system at the combine. Thus, the positive test.

"I was worse at Nebraska than I've ever been at any other time of my life," Gregory said. "But I know how I am now. I think if teams really look at how I am now more so than the past, they'll see I'm making strides to get better, as a person and as a player.
He's still that skinny after downing that many Ho-Ho's and Doritos?

In 5 years (when this plant is deemed legal again by the Feds) this will no longer be a story.

Drew Boylhart, whose player profiles are usually pretty trustworthy:

STRENGTHS
Randy is a mature pass rushing Defensive End whose effort on every play is excellent. He is a trusted teammate and willingly, as well as successfully, plays within the context of his team’s defensive game plan. His techniques to play the run are solid; his mature pass rushing skills and pure athletic talent will allow him to play at the next level in multiple styles of defenses and positions. He has the athletic ability to play OLB in a 3-4 defense or defensive end in a 4-3 defense. Randy changed the line of scrimmage to his advantage on every play. He is double and triple-teamed when an opponent wants to run to his side. He is smart and shows leadership through his play on the field. In tight games, he always makes a play in the fourth quarter when his team needs him to step up. He has those long spider-like arms and legs that allow him to make up ground quickly and disrupt plays in the backfield when other linemen are still just trying to shed and make a play. That’s why I call him Randy (Spiderman) Gregory. As the song says, “Spiderman, Spiderman does whatever a spider can…”; Randy spins a web, any size and catches QB’s just like flies.
CONCERNS
In spite of excellent techniques that he uses against the run because of his build, Randy can get washed out on running plays to his side. He needs to get bigger and stronger, but that will happen once he is on an NFL team and gets into optimal workout regimen.
BOTTOM LINE
You don’t find many pass rushers that play the run with the mature techniques that Randy uses coming out of college. He is a complete player with the size, strength and athletic talent to play more one position on your defense. His effort on every play is outstanding and reminds me of Texans JJ Watt. His style of play and body build reminds me of the Giants’ Jason Pierre-Paul when he first came out to the NFL. But the truth is Randy uses more mature techniques right now than either of those players used when they first came out of college in the draft. So Randy’s upside will be more physical than technique-wise, which means Randy will impact very quickly for the team that selects him in this draft. His ability to play both the run and pass rush equally well is the reason for a short LTI and, although his explosion of the line of scrimmage seems to be lacking at times, don’t be fooled into thinking he can’t speed rush also when needed. On my board Randy is one of the top ten players in this draft and could easily be selected as the first player in this draft. Spiderman, Spiderman, does whatever a spider can. And that’s exactly what Randy does on the field during a game -- anything he can to make a play.

In my mind, this failed drug test could be a blessing in disguise. Up till now, I have not heard anything else that indicates Gregory is a character risk.

I'm still not passing full judgment on Adams - by the end of this season - I will add my .02 cents...
All the way to 22....do we draft him? lol
I heard about this early this morning - and like GRB stated, the FO and coaching staff has made a similar allowance in the past w/ Adams. Gregory, while I shall dub him "Scarecrow", has a higher ceiling than Adams.

If he can add 25 pounds of build - I take the risk in the 3rd like the previously referenced "Justin Houston"...

Beat me to it.

My brother Ron gets me kicked out of work *200 - I have a writing assignment when I get home...

Nice find Garrett - Like I said above - if he's still there for us in the 2nd or 3rd - SNAG HIM!!!

I just caught this.....How is this even possible? Even frequent smokers clear it within a month to test below the threshold for a positive. He had to have been at multiple joints a day - like 3 to 5 fatties - to test positive 2-3 months out. What college student can afford that?

Or he is lying and smoked within a couple of days of the combine. You know, just like the other times he failed his drug tests.

Maybe he'll drive to Pittsburgh and beg the FO to draft him?

We need more LB's. Especially if they're skinny and allegedly fast. If the positive weed test drops him to the second round, Tombert will be giddy. Then he'll get the munchies, go out for a sammich, and get stabbed. Oh yeah, I can see that happening again.

Unless the test was a hair sample, he's a ******* liar.

lol yeah he's full of it. no way in hell he'd still have THC in his system if his last "sesh" was in December, he probably smoked the weekend before.

The combine was about 47 days into the year. Assuming he smoked in late December it's reasonable he could have quit and still popped. What was the threshold of the test? If it's still very low, he's probably telling the truth, IF he's barely above it. 30 days is not a hard and fast rule.

This might be true for someone who sits around all day, doesn't work out, puts on a lot of weight (fat), etc. He's a highly conditioned athlete with a fairly low body-fat percentage and what I'm assuming is a very strong metabolism, there's no way the THC metabolites would still be in his system after that many weeks.
