How do You go from starter to 3rd string on your day off

If you don't show up for work - and the next day or so a video shows up of you partying your *** off and your employer sort of puts together the reason for you not showing up for work...
.

I wasn't aware that skipping practice was a part of this story. Johnny was on his OWN time.

And in regards to the girlfriend incident, that's not what we're talking about here. That happened a while back and nobody is excusing him putting his hands on his woman. This thread is about a 5 second clip of him enjoying himself with friends on his own time. Not work time.

Are they trying to void guaranteed money on his deal or something? The whole situation makes no sense. Put him on the IR already

I'd be willing to bet our QB has been in a bar drinking since all of his trouble. The kid should try and lay low when he does go out and keep his friends and himself from posting all these pics and video's. Is he even in the league discipline protocol? I ask because I don't know. He has some growing up to do, but it isn't 1970. The teams ALL knew who and what he was long before the draft. If they didn't think he was going to out they should have passed.

He grew up in a family with more money than he's making now, you can't preach struggle and hard work to someone who's programmed the opposite in a matter of a couple years. All I know is he makes plays when he's on the field, and as a fan that's pretty much all I care about. I am a fan of the Steelers, what those dudes do on their time is on them. Josh Gordon is a strike away from banned and he's still on the roster. To me that makes them hypocrites. Selective integrity is wonderful.

I'm going to guess and say Jonnie and the Browns had an agreement for him to enter rehab and he promised to stay clean. They allowed him time off and take as much time as he needed to get clean. That's why they came down so hard on him. This isn't him "just taking a drink". He probably lied to them and now they are punishing him for that lie.

To the bolded: Thanks captain obvious
To the rest: That's nobody's business but his and his family's, not even his employer's. TMZ made it everybody's business. Bench him if his play declines - which there is really no indication that is happening at all. In fact he's only gotten better. This move was just to appease people like some of the posters in this thread who like to get up on a high horse and declare that how another human being spends his free time should influence his livelihood, even if it is not breaking any laws or harming anyone. I pray that none of your employers get video of you in your worst moments and publicly declare that you are no longer fit for your position. In this day when no one has privacy anymore, that **** is definitely possible.

Agreed. It's his life

nothing for nothing, I could see this cat moving to another team, and playing well.......

the factory of sadness could **** up a wet dream, spotting them a tissue and lotion.

Some QB's drink better than others. Like ours.

Bias aside, this is REALLY stupid in the Browns part. The video is nothing. He's just having fun with a couple friends. Just because he was in rehab and notorious for partying doesn't mean he's never going to leave his house ever again. And it doesn't mean he doesn't take his job or life seriously, or whatever the narrative is going to be. This is honestly ridiculous. People will make a story as long as someone, somewhere tells them it should be a story. This is a non-story turned into one because of some stupid gossip mongering website. He does not deserve to be benched for that. The article even says he didn't get into any trouble. Come on

What AggieSteel said - near as I could make out he was at a party and was carrying a bottle of champagne. So after a career day against the Steelers they demote him to third string? This is why Cleveland is, and always will be, a loser organization.

I'll second that, if it's brown.......flush it down..!!!

Salute the nation

If this stuff happened to a steeler i would not want him on the team. First of all its a trust issue. If management / teamates can't trust him then it becomes a chemistry issue. You have a guy with a shaky past, goes into rehab, promises to do this and that, and already had 2 incidents in less than half a year. How can you rely on that person, especially someone pegged to be the face of the franchise. Not sure how do many on here can defend his actions from a personal and business standpoint.

Given privacy laws, players rights, etc. it is often what is unsaid that matters most.

An employer is disciplining an employee and they know it will make all concerned look like idiots, so even the hazy-minded braintrust that runs the stains must have what they believe to be a good reason for yet again publicly offering themselves as the clear laughingstocks of the NFL.

This is just how life goes when you work at the Factory of Sadness.

Prediction: before the SB, the comedy gold trifecta that is the stains, Johnny Bench and Spliff Gordon will provide yet another episode for continued ridicule.

Joe Thomas and Alex Mack know it is coming too....http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2015/11/browns_joe_thomas_on_johnny_ma.html

It's pretty simple though Sask...

If you don't show up for work - and the next day or so a video shows up of you partying your *** off and your employer sort of puts together the reason for you not showing up for work...

well... You MIGHT consider checking out the want ads.

I have a friend who bought the building that houses our brewery. She only owns the building, she walked away from managing the 2 bars in it for the reason I'm about to describe. The "bar manager" has some bouncers. One of them tends to call in sick, particularly on weekends. You know - when you NEED bouncers. Anyway, this guy calls in on a Saturday and the manager tells him, "You bet, feel better."

Sure as ****, the bouncer walks in, drunk off his *** at 1:45 looking to "after hours". The owner happened to be there and fired him on the spot. Drunk bouncer sobers up in the morning and calls the manager and whines about how hard his day had been and he really just needed to blow off some steam. He and his "old lady" had had a fight etc. So - manager says "Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it, come on in next week.

Owner is ******* pissed. I mean freaked out pissed. She's furious. Manager explains that it's hard to get good employees and sometimes "you just have to give people leeway."

Next week bouncer is 2 hours late for his shift and comes in tweaking.

Good times. The owner said "**** it - this is your headache." Manager now regularly calls the owner up and asks for bridge loans to help with payments and payroll. Owner says, "Can't do it. had a fight with the "old lady" "Need to blow off some steam".
Greg Hardy seems to have all kinds of behavioral issues.?????? Again, my guess is that the video is the tip of the iceberg and I get the Browns position. I just laugh, because from the outside a mid twenties guy partying with his friends on his week off. SHOCKING.

In todays world these kids make tons of money and teams expect them to act the part. Johnny joker has proved he does not deserve either.

Glazer was reporting he lied to the Browns about when the video was taken. He tried to say it was old footage, but it wasn't. Definitely does not sound like someone serious about cleaning up.

Young+Immature/**** ton of money=dumbshit and loss of starting job. Factor in women and you could have a young man facing a personal Armageddon.

He's definitly his own worst enemy. If he had told the truth he probably wouldn't be demoted to 3rd stringer.

Johnny Football = the new Ryan Leaf...

Ryan Leaf may not have been that dumb and was undoubtedly more talented. He just had to play in a time that didn't favor the QB as much.

I will say that social media has been a true game changer just in the last ten years. It's impossible for anyone of any type of celebrity to go out without some ******** snapping cell phone pics and video's of them. It is what it is. My son has an opportunity to probably play college lacrosse, I've already had the talk long ago with him about Twitter and every other thing they're into and how once you hit send it's out there. Even done it with my adult kids about employers and how background checks can be done. ****, had this stuff existed when I was looking for jobs I would have been ****** when I was in my late teens early twenties. Johnny grew up with money, he has to figure out if he wants to be a celebrity or a QB.

I love Johnny Football. I miss him at A&M. Loved me some Sumlin and Manziel together. He just has no ***** to give and lives his life his way. He's not as bad as everyone wants him to be and he's not the epic failure everyone is rooting for him to be. As long as Greg Hardy is still playing football, I have nothing to say about his frat boy antics.

James Harrison smashed his chick's cell phone while it was on her ear and he still suited up. IJS, this is a very slippery slope.

I miss him too lol.. I was a grad student on campus when he won the Heisman. That was awesome. And yes, very slippery slope indeed. But we all know how these double standards work, especially in the NFL. We can justify taking any action against anyone we don't like, and we can justify giving a pass to anyone we do like. It just is what it is. Johnny has never demonstrated the ability to calm down the partying so one might consider that to be bad decision making. BUT this particular "incident", the one that got him benched, is not even an "incident" at all but rather a product of everyone around him (media, opposing teams fans, his own coaches) looking for any reason to get on the kid's case.

Sumlin is the reason I started following Aggie ball after he left UH. Manziel was the icing on the cake. Those games were a blast to watch and the more people hated seeing A&M win, the more fun it was.

I didnt think this last event was an incident either and you cant tell me these other young cats arent out there acting like a young dude. But its not juicy gossip.

I lived in Colorado when their franchise quarterback smashed his face into Terrell Davis's driveway completely schmammered. No one called for his head. But he was a Griese so all his **** ups continually went ignored and covered up.

He also smashed into the back of a funeral procession ****** up. The news reported it at noon, it was cleaned up and never mentioned in the Denver media ever again.
