How do we win a SB next year ?

In my eyes, the three biggest challenges are :

1) Bell - will they re-sign him ?
2) ILB - I'm assuming Shazier will not be back
3) Secondary - Burns is a disappointment, imo. And the S position needs fixing as well.

So, is it possible to win a SB next year ? If so, what needs to happen ? I think it's a given that they need to sign Bell if they want to see a SB next year. One thought I was having was to trade Bryant to fix #2 or #3.

Your thoughts ?

Bell isn’t worth what he’s asking. Great RB yes but he’s a distraction and RB’s have a short life in the NFL anyway.
Shazier will need replaced for sure.
Burns is the new Ike Taylor. Solid in man, to stupid to do anything else.
Mitchell is pure trash but I think Davis will be ok.

Oh and even if all that gets fixed we still have an idiot running the team. Terrible game planning, no in game adjustments, not having the team focused/ready to play, bad decisions and clock management. Hard to win a Super Bowl with all that **** even if you have the talent.

To win, the O needs to perform to its capabilities as it did in the back half of the season and it needs to be consistent with its performance throughout a game. With that, they can score 30+ with or without Bell next season.

The D needs to get better at tackling, maintain the pressure on the QB it had for most of this season, be able to plug the middle of the line and collapse the pocket, and not give up big plays in the passing game. Burns played well 80% of the time and probably more than that. His problem was looking in the backfield and taking the bait - thus, giving up a big pass play, which many times resulted in a TD. He did much better when he played man from the line as he didn't have time to look in the backfield. He needs better coaching and training on that.

They need to upgrade at safety and improve both the DL and LB play. Tuitt and Dupree both had weak seasons, though Tuitt had an excuse with all the injuries.

Hopefully, Tuitt can return to his form from previous seasons and Watt continues to improve. I've pretty much given up on Dupree amounting to anything more than another Ziggy Hood caliber player---just a guy.

This. Keep doing what you're doing, keep getting what you got. No amount of talent can overcome stupidity.

Make the playoffs, then during the games score a lot of points early and get so far ahead in the score that poor coaching decisions like onside kicks can't ruin the game.

Added to the above. Battle plans! That's on the coaches. The ability to adapt&overcome situations inside of games. The middle of the field has been so soft for so long. Tackling 101! Has to happen. They're god awful at a fundamental of football.

Yep!
Once this team is actually coached and not scraping by on talent.

They don't.
Truly, I don't have any faith whatsoever that Tomlin can win a major playoff game, let alone 2 with just Ben.

He doesn't have enough of Cowher's players left who remember how to win.

And there is no sarcasm or irony in ANY if that. I absolutely believe it.

Hope this team "leaders" actually step up and become the locker-room leaders that is sorely missing from this bunch..

Problem is that the players that need (GOD) good orderly direction, seem to be the the "stars" and the players you would think would be part of the solution, and not part of the problem..

More reason to SCREAM replace the LB coach, yes that means Joey nshould be gone. Bud has shown ONLY one ******* move his whole career............. I wonder why he isn't coached up better???? Joey..... Can you step forward, and bring Carnell with you.

Porters departure is long overdue...

You have to give him credit for his role in defeating the bungles in our last meeting in the play off game. Joey helped seal the deal............ After that,......He's got nothing.!!!!

We could address all of our personnel problems but the irony is that there is no reason to believe the one thing the Steelers can address without spending a ******* dime will be addressed. All indications are that they will continue to be an unfocused, undisciplined, underachieving team. That problem seemingly doesn’t exist to the people (who are supposed to be) in charge.

1 Replace Spence , draft a ILBer and bring a ILBer in.
2 Draft a FS for competition.
3 On D let Butler coach, and in the process dumb down the D. You have so many ideas, this coach wants to try this, that coach wants to try that. No one person. Dumb it down and coach them up to play more physical. Something similar to the Tom Coughlin approach to defense.
4 Draft a OLber for competition.
5 Let the O coordinator make the game on the line O decisions. On D see number 3.

Does anyone really believe they will get that far. We just had two good years and feel flat on our faces.

Depends on what moves are made in the off-season. So far I would lean towards no.

Something to make that lean a little less is the fact of a new OC that actually understands the game of football. I bet he makes a big difference in how the OFFENSE clicks. That is a POSSITIVE. Now as for players and COACHING strategy that will have to play out as the off season progresses. Maybe we get lucky and a coaching position changes or maybe on a lesser NOTE: Cool Shades is being put through a coaching clinic 101 as we speak of course all promoted / insisted on by management.
