How about the QB's just suck? Can we just say that?

Hodges had two other 30+ yards completions to Washington against the Bills.
and both of them required Washington to make significant adjustments to the ball.

One of them for example, would have been a TD if Hodges had thrown it AHEAD of Washington instead of making him slow down because it was 5 yards behind him.

As I mentioned, Washington has been playing some GREAT ball. He's helped Hodges avoid some serious miscues and he's made some not-very-good throws look better than they were. That isn't to say Hodges wasn't getting the ball into the zipcode. He just isn't dropping the mail off in the mailbox. He's more of a paper-boy heaving the newspaper toward the front door.

Man you sure don’t let anything dissuade your agenda... you are too impatient with development projects... you aren’t getting a qb that doesn’t have perceived flaws outside of the top five or ten at worse... all the rest of the guys are going to take more than seven or eight games to learn qb play in the nfl...

Landry jones was more raw than either of these two, he took two years before the team even felt he could see the field... these guys were both rushed and honestly they aren’t blank slating it... so you build on what they have shown so far....

Jones had a better arm that Rudy, Rudy just doesn't have " it " at quarterback. There is not one part of his game that is above average. He's a disaster waiting to happen, and I think has an unlikable personality. Duck as a rookie who hardly took snaps with the #1s is better.

So basically you are saying that Duck sucked and that's why they lost.

The fact is, Duck tends to thrown balls up for grabs. Previously, predominantly Washington was making spectacular plays on less than perfect balls. I admit, Duck threw 1 perfect pass last week to D.J. He hit him on a deep slant, in stride and D.J. made a great gain. But literally, that was the ONLY good pass all day from Hodges. Everything else was late, high, off, or worst of all, into a group of 2 or 3 defenders with a Steeler receiver trying desperately to knock the ball away.

It's not his fault. He's not an NFL caliber QB. He's a nice guy. I like him. I like his story, but he has hit his ceiling. And it's lower than the 6'8" defensive linemen.

No. I'm saying the team wasn't good enough. A weak punt that set up a Bills score. Lousy coaching. That silly fumble play when we could have had six points.

Duck had little time to throw the ball. Buffalo has a top defense.

The limits test is bad coaching once again held us back, and Berry has had two very bad games back to back. I'm not sure if you really like Rudolph or flat out just hate Duck. The funny part here is not one person on this board was saying Duck sucks when he was 3-0 as a starter. Or if you prefer 4-0 in games when he threw it more than 10 times. We lost to a very good team that out coached us Sunday night. The coaches abandoned the run. That's the story.

Duck is an accurate passer. He's completing 67.8% of his passes with a 7.5 yards average per pass. Ya really want dink and dunk Rudy back in there who had far worse accuracy despite throwing it short more often? Rudy = 61.6 % passes complete with a very low 6.2 yards a pass.

This made me chuckle. First of all Rivers sucks. You could see him coming for a few million? I don’t think that arrogant *** gets out of bed for less than 15 million

Rivers is stuck on a lousy team. He would be a good 1 year option if Ben were to retire, and I think he wants to be on a team that has a chance to win. How much he signs for depends on the market.

Let's use the numbers.

Suppose Ben retires. That's 33.3 million in cap space to use

Steelers pick up their 5th year option on Dupree for 9.3 million.

Steelers sign a top RB Derick Henry for 12 million. Or pick a top OL player if you prefer.

Steelers then have about 12 million to sign a qb for 1 year while they search for a long term solution 12 million can get you Rivers. More than a few million, but now you can see my point. Rivers would be an upgrade over Duck or Rudolph. Say what you will Rivers has hall of fame numbers is tough, and loves to play. With our talent on offense, he's look a lot better.

We won't be able to get one of the top 4 QBs this draft. It's best if Ben comes back healthy and in shape. We don't know if he will.

AND he has a big cranium.

What makes you so sure? I thought the big heads only mattered if they are on the shorter side. What does Rivers have 9 children or something?

Not sure Duck had a better arm and the unlikable personality **** is just that a ****** opinion pulled out of your *** supported by nothing.

From what I could see at the game. Duck had problems with cover 2.

How many QBs consistently throw it "into the mail box" 20+ yards downfield? Washington made nice catches on those plays, but they were far from highlight reel type grabs. Ben has had countless downfield completions like that in his career.

Hodges arm is not as good as Ben's, but it is not the limp noodle that many claim it is.

I think it is good enough when combined with his other skills. Plus, arm strength is something that can improve as he matures.

The bottom line is that the Bills defense has made several veteran QBs look bad this season, and there was no excuse having a rookie QB dropping back 40+ times against it.

Prior to Sunday night, many had already made up their minds on Hodges and were squatted over him, waiting for a bad game to take the dump.

I still like his potential and want to see how rebounds against the Jets. If he stinks it up again, I'll need to reassess things, but I don't think he will.

Ben's coming back so your thoughts are as worthless as ever

and rivers still sucks

How do you know if he's coming back. He still can't throw a football. He's old. And by the looks of it he's out of shape. He wants to get paid, and may come back to form but we just don't know. By the way the Bills DL ripped the Steelers line. Your boy Oliver did next to nothing.

He can't throw a football yet. There is older productive QBs. And he has a whole off-season to get in shape. He has expressed his desire to return meatball.

I wouldnt want Rivers. Hes an arrogant *******. We can surely do better.

my boy did fine. as you have been told, stats are not the only way to judge a player. The Steelers certainly were not able to run the ball right at him and he did his job very well

Ben is not supposed to be throwing yet, hard to say what kind of shape he is in when the only shots of him are in bulky clothes.

^^^This^^^
The other bottom line is that we have 2nd and 3rd string QB's playing and the 3rd stringer turned out to be marginally better than the 2nd stringer. The Bills have a very good defense. It's no more complicated than that. WITH Ben, AB, Bell, and Mendenhall Tomlin has only won 3 playoff games in the last 10 years.

Lousy Team? The Chargers have 2 good RBs in Gordon and Ekeler. They have a very good TE, Hunter Henry. They also have some good WRs with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams who will both have over 1000 yards this year. Ekeler could actually finish with 1000 yards receiving as well. He could have 3 different 1000 yard receivers this year and a good run game.

There's no reason to think Ben won't be back next year, so it would be pointless to go after an old veteran. If they wanted to roll the dice on a guy like Cam Newton, i'd disagree but at least it would make sense that Cam could theoretically be Ben's replacement and play for several more years.

Rivers? May as well go after Eli Manning

Don’t fight the agenda... Rivers and his weird throwing mechanics that probably wiped out his arm by now is the way to go... Ben clearly can never play again because he has a beard or something... young QBs can never improve... if they aren’t lighting it up week one, they are crap...

The agenda is good... the agenda is your friend.....

I guess since it is more of a passing league now, Bradshaw would have had 12 TD's and 48 Int's.

doubtful, the rules now favor the offense. Defenders can not molest the WR all the way down the field and are barely allowed to touch the QB today. Bradshaw dropped back knowing he could be crushed by a defender well after he threw the ball.
