Hidden Plays: Coaching Decisions and Football IQ from a Rookie

"I was taken aback by the screen that we gave up just prior to that,” Tomlin told reporters Tuesday. “And I was more concerned about getting that unit off the field without giving up any more splash plays. It’s really unsettling when you give up a field-flipping play such as that. Thankfully that play was called back due to a block in the back, but we were fortunate there. Our execution was poor and it really kind of changed my whole mentality about how the end of that half was unfolding.”

He doesn't think his defense can stop 3rd and 18!!? That's championship football right there...he's so lucky he won by a possession instead of losing by one...unbelievablably bad

yeah it has been posted in a couple of threads including this one

Nice to see a WR lay out to catch a TD! Who was that again? ;)

And I am harder on Tomlin for the challenges he doesn't use. 3 games in a row. 2 would have given us possessions, last game would have ran the clock down to 2min at EOG.

i think I mentioned DJ laying out for that catch in my initial thread after the game...if not, I should have. I can't remember the last time a Steeler WR went all out like that to make a play. It was ******* awesome. The pass may have been a stride too far but Ben has to believe his WR will do what is necessary to make the catch and DJ did on that one.

JuJu's TD looks easy in comparison, but the defender hits him and goes for the ball right after he catches it. Great concentration and fight to maintain the reception and get that go ahead TD on the board

Damn it was nice to see passes on target more than a few yards downfield

I think Mike Wallace early on was the last guy to go Superfly Snooka on those balls.

I have a huge signed Mike Wallace photo of him stretching out for a catch. Ol one trick did have some beautiful catches.
