Heyward will play Sunday, welcomed baby boy this morning

You are CRAZY -- this is he FIRST Kid !! Lets just hope it happens on Friday or Saturday ! !
The odds the baby comes on Sunday aren't that high. People take the term "due date" way too literally. It's more like the midpoint of a 15-day period in which the baby is highly likely to show up at some point in those 15 days.

First babies are late most of the time.

I have two young sons and was there for both of their births, but I'm not paid millions based on applying my skills for a 3 hour window of time, on 16 days of the year. I can make up time that I miss by working a little bit more the following week, but Cam can't. He should absolutely not miss this game. Either induce labor (something my wife and I decided to do after baby #2 was more than a week late) on Saturday or roll the dice with the idea that wifey's mother would be with her if needed and Cam can always go straight from the stadium after the game to the hospital (hell, he could probably get a frickin' police escort).

If she has the baby at Allegheny General, where my daughter was born, he can be there from the stadium in five minutes.

Even though Cam makes millions, millions cant buy him a time machine so he can go back to be there for his son's arrival to the world. He needs to be with his family

Play the damn game. Soldiers that are deployed are forced to miss the birth of their child, so don't feel bad Heyward.

Many of us were born without the father present in the delivery room. Back in the day our dads were confined to the waiting room where they nervously paced back and forth awaiting our arrival. We survived.
Play the damn game.

A dose of magnesium sulphate should do the trick.

My wife's water broke with our first while I was sitting down at a Chili's in Boise, Idaho as she was in Lake Tahoe. The baby was a month early and they didn't want her to be born in Tahoe at 7000 feet so they dosed her with Magnesium and sent her in an ambulance to Reno...I beat her to the hospital, flying out on the next available flight. We waited another 18 hours before the doctor induced labor with Pitocin and finally had her on the 3rd shift change!

Unless he just doesn't feel like showing up on Sunday, there would be no reason to miss the game, IMO.

I doubt most folks on this site would miss their child being born for work. At least, I hope.

Oh stop it. Please do no compare the life of a deployed soldier to that of a millionaire athlete, thats a ridiculous comparison, two totally different worlds

One world being us able to live out our fantasy, the other world of sacrifice for us to live out that fantasy, I sympathies with the soldier......

Salute the nation

please the water break withen the next 12 yrs and he is born in front of daddy and, daddy gets irion head jr 2 sacks on sunday

yayyyy ya yaayyyy

Congrats Cam and your fam!!
Get the W tomorrow.

When you're an NFL player you get paid (in Heyward's case) millions of dollars a year and the wife should understand that that is what pays for the big house she lives in and Porsche Cayenne she drives and the lifestyle she likes so much. Daddy not being there if the kid is born on game day comes with the territory. At least if I'm a player that's what I tell my wife.

Agreed

if I made millions of dollars a year I would miss childbirth for work in a heartbeat if it was a critical issue. Like if my presence might mean the difference between 5-4 or 4-5 and making the playoffs or not making the playoffs. Anyhow, baby is born, congrats to the Heyward family, and it's a non-issue.

Glad the baby was born today so he can play without worrying, but the guy is showing he is a class act who wears the black and gold with pride. I, for one, would have respected his decision to be there if baby came on game day. It's too much to ask to miss your child's entry into this world. I'm very happy he's on our roster and hope he has a huge game tomorrow.

Congrats Cam and family!
